So we’re really all now freaking out because some random dude said to @MATTWOLVES 3 on Twitter that the met office are going to downgrade a forecast for over a weeks time? Oh okay then

Well I won’t be here before Christmas Day because unlike some of you I’m not gonna kid myself. The outlook is dire and I’d rather focus on more important things. All I am going to say is I love you all, I love this website and I love this thread. And I wish you all a very very merry Christmas. Stay safe everyone. Here’s to some better modelling into January, hey?

Haha don't blame you moving to where the snow is - although depends where in Scotland I guess. The last big winters were 2009/10 and the Dec 2010 Big Freeze but Runcorn would have seen snow from Storm Christoph in Jan 2021, Beast from the East in 2018, December 2017, Boxing Day 2014 and Jan 2013 to name a few - it shares a similar micro climate to the Wirral and Merseyside despite technically being in Cheshire (Halton) with a more coastal influence than say my location and areas further East in the region.
Only kidding anyway mate I love it here everyone is so friendly. Lovely place to live.

Haha Runcorn will do slightly better than right on the coast - accumulating snowfall west of the M6 pre Xmas is rare though and last night it was a marginal battleground. Runcorn would have done well in 09/10 & Dec 2010.
But the dates you mentioned are 13 years ago. Nope I’m out when my girlfriend moves in with me! I’ll be in the scottyland thread

I suggest we all just say screw it and move to Norway. It’s like trying to get blood from a stone trying to get snow up here, I know this and I’ve only been here 14 months.

Been watching it creeping up. How much influence does the Irish Sea have? High tide at Blackpool at 2.32 pm today. Still sullen cold up here in the hills. Temp risen a tiny bit to 35.1C.
Not too sure, I haven’t lived in Runcorn for too long lol. Just hopecasting that as it pushes upto me it’ll turn to snow hahah

What do people think of this current PPN on radar as it pushes north?

That 6 hours of heavy snow forecasted by some high res models turned out to be about an hour of light patchy sleet. I’m gonna go back to bed I think

I can confirm some flakes of snow have fallen. Not sure if it’s settled, but it looks to be over now anyway let me go have a look….
Big flakes, slight dusting on my car. Whoopeee doopeee? Aside from that no settling.

Wouldn't be surprised if this is exclusively South East of Manchester now. It has trended South. 2.5cm here now.
So basically the MO were correct with their warning? Well done to them I guess, it looked wayyy north on this mornings runs

It's an interesting evening ahead. I don't know how much snow we'll see, but two things are certain. First is that the Indian Takeaway is now ordered, second is that it is time to crack the first beer.
Oh cmon no fair! I was just thinking I wish I had a nice takeaway on an evening like this.. Feel free to send money my way or snow!!!!!! Either will do!

Lower levels now relying on getting the sustained heavy precipitation in.
I’m not expecting anything now lol, even the radar looks a bit gappy.

The winds are going to go offshore later though, correct?

Very dark here now. Hopefully we can get some flurries going soon.

That PPN is edging closer to my location,Might arrive a bit before 7 imo. As long as there’s no marginality then that surely increases chances of a good few hours snowfall considering @Kasim Awandoesnt expect the main band til after 11pm.
If I hopecast enough it may happen

I wouldn't take the warning area too literally guys. This is a pure nowcast, and some models have this as a big hit North of the warning area. This is a pure nowcast. Let's just wait and see.
You won't be bored later when it's moving slow over us.
What time do you see it hitting us lol, it sure is very slow moving?

Anyone else getting bored watching that snow on the radar move sooooo slowly across northern Wales towards us??

Model Output Discussion - Colder but how cold and for how long?

From a selfish perspective I want this low as far south as possible, keeps the cold locked in longer and in my location it looks like we’ll get some streamer activity off the Irish Sea. And usually these type of things do always trend south although much to be resolved still..
