  1. I was watching that storm system at hourly intervals throughout the night. Kicked off explosively over northern France at about 19:30 BST and continued to grow and intensify as it slowly moved NNE. However, when it reached the channel it lost strength for a bit, then came back to life suddenly again then fizzled out again to only about 7 strikes a minute and that’s continued to decrease. It even split and started to drift north and east and just ended up being some heavy rain with only one or two booms of thunder. Looked like we got a decaying storm! It it seems that the storms had used up all their energy in France as they were so violent it was pretty hard to believe that they would come back alive over the uk even though there was plenty of humidity and instability in the atmosphere. Bloody french stole all the lightning it seems ha ha! Oh well there’s still two and a half months of summer still! It will be truly memorable if any storms this year can live up to the colossal beasts over London in may last year
  2. Any ideas of approx time this system will reach south London? Planning my alarm time
  3. Lovely cloudscape tonight looking towards London, the air is so still. Quiet before the storm hopefully!
  4. Been feeling very close all day today, great signals. Also I’m noticing little flies and bugs flying around that I don’t normally see, on my windows a few are crawling around. I’m pretty certain the last time that happened was before last year’s big storms in may over London! This is getting me hyped now
  5. That’s my problem too! I don’t want to go to sleep because I may not wake up for the best of the storms so I don’t know whether to set an alarm or something for 3am or something I’m lost for what to do, I hope those storms arrive earlier but then again when they arrive I want them to stick around for a good few hours which they should
  6. Picture from the incredible storms May 2018 to ‘wet’ our appetites
  7. Yh. I’m right in the black hatched zone anyway! Hoping to get some amazing pictures of lightning over London tonight providing this all goes to plan
  8. I’m right in the firing line for that! Hope I’m in for a treat!
  9. Same here I live south of London so I’m praying that is correct
  10. Looks like London seems to be in the firing line for Monday night into Tuesday. BBC’s forecast has the precipitation sat further east than originally a few days ago and so does ECM. Think I may be in luck!
  11. Look how quickly those temperatures fall away though! Massive storms incoming
  12. Could be even more extreme because there’ll be plenty of fuel in heat and humidity for big ones to form over the uk at that point
  13. My eyes are now being drawn to mid next week. a surge of very hot and humid air for a couple of days from the south if low pressure is positioned right. If that happens we could be looking at some extreme and intense thunderstorms if the setup is right! Just look at this scenario!:
  14. This is right on course for London with a few lightning strikes popping up! It has been intensifying even over land this one!
  15. Brighton seems to be kind of in the firing line. You’ll be able to see them approaching though across the channel at least as long as they don’t die out!
  16. Yes but it could quickly become electrical jusdging by how quickly the precipitation has intensified. Still a few hours to go before they are due to hit
  17. This beauty formed in under 40 minutes! Very rapid convection over the channel then!
  18. Just looked at that, that is mental. Western Poland nearing 40 degrees! looks like Low pressure will never be too far away if it gets hot in the uk so pretty severe thunderstorms could well happen in that scenario!
