  1. I would expect some really heavy North sea showers from the predicted set-up next week at the best of times, but even more so due to sea surface temperatures being well above normal, creating increased instability.with hail and thunder quite likely amogst the snow showers. Looks like quite a lengthy cold spell coming up as it stands.
  2. The perfect set-up for cold for the UK on tonight's ECM with a cut off Greenland high.
  3. A bit off topic, but Chris Fawkes just mentioned Greenland blocking and "very cold" arctic air reaching the UK towards the end of next week on the bbc forecast about 15 minutes ago. Unusual for them to push the boat out that far.
  4. ECM,GEFS and GEM day 10 ensemble means are like 3 peas in a pod. We seem to have plenty of wiggle room with this set-up.
  5. Quite rare to see heights around the Svalbard region. Sounds like an awesome place. Svalbard is a Norwegian archipelago between mainland Norway and the North Pole. One of the world’s northernmost inhabited areas, it's known for its rugged, remote terrain of glaciers and frozen tundra sheltering polar bears, Svalbard reindeer and Arctic foxes. The Northern Lights are visible during winter, and summer brings the “midnight sun”
  6. Quite a neat looking trough moving up through NE England, and can see occasional flashes of lightning looking south.
  7. Never thought i would see the temperatures achieved today in the region in my lifetime, but it looks like we have cracked 100 F in places which is pretty insane. Would be a shame not to get a storm to break it down.
  8. Give it a few hours and we will be joining much of the rest of the country in the oven.
  9. Dewpoints looking favourable for snow in the South next Tuesday. Could be a bit slushy though.
  10. Such a widespread area of 40c+ over France, going to be very costly in lots of ways if that comes off.
  11. Just had a rumble of thunder here and quite heavy rain which should help with those extreme pollen levels of the last few days.
  12. Some really strong sunshine up here in the North-East at the moment,so maybe some fuel for the fire.
