  1. I am surprised that you feel the full effect of the north east wind being so far away from the NE coast. I thought it was only the north east and some eastern parts of Yorkshire that suffered with a NE wind. Here a North easterly wind can be cloudy and cool but it can also bring very pleasant conditions - as we have had today - though the wind was a little chilly.
  2. Yes I have read about the mild climate of the Scilly Iles and the far South West. It's remarkable that tropical plants can be grown in the UK, even if it's down to winter warmth rather than summer heat. The weather for the next week in the Scilly Iles looks to be mainly dry with a mix of sun and clouds, breezy and high humidity in the 80's and 90's, with little difference between day and night temps (15-19C). While much much cooler than the SE, it may still feel hot due to the high humidity, but then again the breeze might counter that. Anyone on here from the Scilly Iles or visited there know what the climate feels like? Isles of Scilly - BBC Weather WWW.BBC.CO.UK 14-day weather forecast for Isles of Scilly. The weather in Toruqay looks to be warm, humid and thundery next week. The weather was warm, humid and mainly sunny when I visited the area three years ago, though it did get a bit chilly at night. it is much more of a humid heat down there rather than a temperature heat like you get in the SE. It might only be 24C but feels more like 30C because of the high humidity. Torquay - BBC Weather WWW.BBC.CO.UK 14-day weather forecast for Torquay.
  3. I am just treating this as a spell of pleasant summer weather, rather than a heatwave, as temps have only been low to mid 20’s here, which isn’t a heatwave unless you live in Northern Scotland (or the north east) just a spell of nice weather for a change.
  4. It really is like a tropical paradise down there! Certainly felt like that when I went there three years ago. Looking at the picture you’d think it was abroad! I know it gets cooler in autumn and winter but the climate is magnificent compared to most of the U.K.
  5. That NE breeze is certainly keeping things cool today for northern and eastern areas.
  6. A pleasant afternoon here. 22/23C and sunny periods and a nice breeze.

  9. A pleasant afternoon here. 22/23C and sunny periods with a nice breeze.
  10. Much fresher here this morning with a stiff NE wind. Currently cloudy with sunny periods.

  12. Indeed. Stayed in Paignton in late August 2017 and had cracking weather all week.
  13. Much cooler here. Currently 18°C and the easterly breeze has picked up too. Plenty of sunshine though.
  14. Unlucky! The last two days have been pleasantly warm here but not too hot, with maxes around 23/24°C, mostly cloudy yesterday, more sunshine today. Perfect summer weather really.
  15. Was cloudy an hour ago and it felt much cooler but now the cloud has shifted and the sun is back out again, feels much warmer. Reached around 23°C here so still pleasantly warm.
  16. Yes it clouded up here a couple of hours ago, the breeze increased and the temperature dropped by a few degrees. I actually put on a light jacket for my late afternoon/early evening walk. However now the cloud has cleared and the sun has come back out again and it feels a lot warmer now.
  17. Whereas here our July/August average is only 19/20°C, so the average is a little on the cool side, especially if there’s a breeze or it’s cloudy. Whereas when you guys down south get uncomfortably hot temperatures in summer, it is usually just pleasantly warm up here (not always though, last summer being an example when it reached 33°C here on the hottest day ever). My house rarely gets too hot, at the moment it’s 22/23°C in the house which is just about perfect.
  18. I get the impression that most of the people on here from the south are enjoying the heat, with a few seemingly disappointed it wasn’t even hotter than it was in thier location. But personally I much prefer low-mid 20’s warmth. Much more comfortable!
  19. I have recently bought a room climate monitor and it is currently reading 22.8°C with 59% humidity which is in the “comfortable range” and it feels very pleasant if a bit on the warm side. It also tells you the indoor dew point. At the moment it is 14.3°C which is in the comfortable range. Anything above 16°C is considered “muggy“.
  20. Yes it’s been very strange how the sunshine/cloud has been distributed across the region today, with some places having a mostly cloudy day but go 10 miles up the road and it’s cracking the flags. It was sunny earlier here but the cloud has arrived now.
  21. Looks like my luck has finally ran out, completely cloudy here now. Unfortunately I missed my chance to get a suntan in the garden.
