  1. Absolutely ridiculous we get a whole month of below average temperatures yet get one day of scorching hot temperatures where it’s too hot to do anything. But it seems like our summers are all or nothing these days. Either too cool or boiling hot. I guess that’s climate change for you.
  2. Yes the only thing they have in common is their name sadly.
  3. Yes that is correct sadly. My mean maximum for this month is only 16.4°C (average is around 19.5/20.0). Only had one day reach 20°C so far (yesterday). It’s amazing how much of a difference the Pennines make.
  4. It is but I’d rather wed have had a warmer month but with no exceptional heat just low to mid 20’s. Rather than a whole month of below average temperatures but one day of 30°C + where it’s too hot to do much.
  5. Clear blue skies this morning! Not seen that for awhile! Already hot hot hot out there! My cat is loving it!

  7. Not sure about that. The SE is definitely warmer and drier but I have a feeling the SW is sunnier. It certainly was very sunny when I went to St Ives and Paignton (South Devon) on holiday. The English riveria has a very nice climate with loads of warmth and sunshine and are protected from heavy rain by the Devon moors.
  8. Yes and humidity is higher down in the SW which makes it feel warmer. It’s also a beautiful area with loads of palm trees which makes it feel like you’re abroad.
  9. Let’s hope so Frost Hollow but I’m not putting my money on it.
  10. We probably won’t have to wait too much longer until 40°C is recorded in the south east of the UK.
  11. Nice warm day today but feeling quite humid and it stayed cloudy all day. But it felt nice just have a warm day for a change! First one this month! (I class warm in summer as 21-25C).
  12. If it was 34C and raining at the same time it would be very odd. It would likely feel very muggy but the rain would also cool you down to some degree. I'd like to experience that to see just what it feels like!
  13. Yes it’s been a very miserable month with average maxima at 16°C here, around 4° below average here so I’m surprised the CET is not lower.
  14. Why’s it now going up? The weather is still crap. My maximum didn’t even reach 15.7 yesterday and I live just down the road from Stonyhurst which is one of the three weather station used for the CET.
  15. No it’s been terrible here as well. But when the winds from the south or the south east (as it will be on Friday) I tend to do quite well for heat/warmth (perhaps a bit too well as it’s now forecast to reach 29 tomorrow here)!
  16. No it doesn’t look as good where you are. But living in Northern Ireland you will always more exposed to the Atlantic.
  17. Isn’t it just? Just checked bbc weather for my location and max forecast temp has jumped from 27 to 29 degrees overnight! Full sunshine forecast as well. Will be a shocker after having sub 20C maxima for the past four weeks. But it won’t last as on the weekend it’s back into the high teens here. BB8 - BBC Weather WWW.BBC.CO.UK 14-day weather forecast for BB8.
  18. I hope you are right but my gut feeling is we will get another poor August with below average temperatures, sunshine and above average rainfall. Maybe mediocre/average at best.
  19. It’s only 16.1°C here! Around 4 degrees below average! Coldest July I’ve ever known! In comparison to other July’s, last year’s average July max was 20.9°C and in 2018 we barely had a daytime max below 20°C.
  20. I mean I had higher temperatures last winter on some days (though it never felt because it was always wet and windy with it).
  21. Yes both minima and maxima below average here (especially maxima) which is quite surprising given how exceptionally cloudy this month has been. Usually, cloudy months have at least average or above average minima.
  22. Sounds like things have been even worse up in Scotland then! I mean we've had a lot of days here where temps have struggled to get above the low teens but to have temps in single figures during waking hours in July is absolutely ridiculous!
