  1. It does, but it doesn't explain why it's been so dull and cloudy. Don't northwesterlies usually bring sunshine and showers type weather?
  2. Went to the hairdressers today for the first time since February! On the telly the weather for the north west came on, looks like a North/South split not just for the UK as a whole but also in the region. Rain forecast for Cumbria and Isle of Man tommorow, but the rest of the region forecast to stay mostly dry. The lowest temperatures will be where it's raining, stuck in the mid teens, whereas places like Manchester and Cheshire could reach 21°C. Burnley near where I live is forecast to reach 19°C. Should just miss out on the rain tommorow. Not too bad I suppose. London on the other hand could reach 26/27C on Saturday. Looks a bit grim about the covid situation, Pendle and Blackburn with Darwen have seen a spike in cases.
  3. Wall to wall cloud here and cool for the time of year with a max of around 17°C. I don't mind though as it stayed dry throughout with light winds. I don't mind cloudy weather in summer too much as long as it's not that horrible fine drizzle or frontal rain. I would have preferred it to be a bit warmer though. It is July after all.
  4. Well it's been a cool and cloudy day but at least it's a mild night. Currently 16° with 97% humidity. Barely any lower than the maximum daytime temperature. Should keep the house a bit warmer tonight.
  5. Don't mind a good old mix of weather, anythings better than persistent cool, cloudy and damp weather.
  6. Looks like I have been unlucky as I have just missed out on the sunshine. I live about 30 miles to the west of Leeds so it seems like I’ve just missed out on the sunny zone. North west England (away from the coast anyway) has been in the cloudy zone. Looks like Yorkshire, the north-east, the south coast (surprise, surprise) and the south west have done best for sunshine today.
  7. Cool and cloudy here too today, seems like we just missed out on the sunshine, north east England and the south were quite sunny today it seems. We seem to do really poorly for sunshine in summer in the north west, esspecially in a westerly (though even in a westerly summer we usually get more sunshine than this) it’s only really the spring that has decent sunshine levels. The rest of the year is mainly just a cloud fest. Most boring climate in the country.
  8. I have been thinking that in recent days actually. Especially when songs like “please don’t stop the music” by Rihanna come on the radio that came out around that time.
  9. I agree about last July being miles better than this one (still haven’t reached 20c yet!) but I don’t agree about September. It was a crap month here because the start was very cool and wet, it was only around the middle of the month where we got some sunshine but only average temps with cold nights. Then the last week of the month was very unsettled but a bit milder. August was wet but at least it was a bit warmer.
  10. Not really, can you think of a winter where it’s been mild in December and January but cold in February? I can’t.
  11. Amazing how much home video camera quality has improved since 2007!
  12. Summer 2011 really wasn’t that bad. Yes it was cool, sure, but I don’t remember it being overly wet or cloudy. Unlike this summer which has been the dullest I can remember with quite a lot of rain at the start of the month. I remember going on holiday to East Anglia in August 2011 and having lots of warm, dry and sunny weather. It pretty much felt like the same temperature from April to November that year. Nothing very hot but nothing very cold.
  13. Cool and cloudy today here in Lancashire (again) but staying dry, booooooooooooooring.
  14. It did feel unseasonable but in enjoyed it for how exceptional it was. Being able to wear shorts in February was amazing. We had much better weather during that month than anything this “summer” has managed to bring.
  15. Erm... We’ve already got it. We also had autumn weather throughout most of the winter as well...
  16. Yes just feels like we’ve just completely bypassed the summer. This nothing weather is awful.
  17. Another grey and overcast day. Yawn. Most boring depressing climate on planet Earth. Could be worse I suppose. At least it’s not raining...
  18. Could be worse. Not even reached 20 degrees here yet!
  19. Can you go to the bookies and make your own bets on the weather? I thought you could only bet on things like if it’s gonna be white Christmas this year or if 40C will be reached in the UK this summer.
  20. Yep, getting serious 2008 vibes now. Overcast, cool and drizzly, hearing “please don’t stop the music” by Rihanna and “put on my blue shade shoes in the pouring rain” on the radio. Just need “Why does it always rain on me” and “Umbrella” and we’re done.
  21. Here in the NW of England, before 2006, the summer hols used to be in July for 5 weeks and then we’d get 2 weeks off in September. Then the government decided that all areas should go on holiday at the same time, so we switched to 6 weeks off from late July to early September like the rest of the country, and got rid of the 2 weeks September holiday. Ironically, since then, we haven’t had a decent August in the NW region since, but we’ve had plenty of nice Septembers. I remember we got 9 weeks off during summer 2006, as they were making the transition. It was great for the kids, but a bit of a pain for the parents.
  22. I think it might have been July 1988. Have a look here: Have a look at the maximum recorded temperatures for that month. Absolutely shocking!
  23. Yes I woke up early yesterday morning and the sky was clear, but by the time I got up it was thick cloud which persisted all day, even until dusk. This morning when I woke up early on it was raining though.
  24. I thought traditionally the Atlantic always powered up during October. It always has a reputation of being a poor month.
  25. Summer 2016 was poor here but was followed by an excellent September. We had the best weather in May, late August and September that year. September 2011 is also a good example. I also remember we had a nice September in 2009, 2010 and 2014. August 2010 and 2014 were poor, summer 2009 was just benign.
