  1. Warmer than the highest max I’ve had this month, which was around 18°C on the 1st I think. If I had got to the 11th July and only had one day below 20°C, that would be considered pretty good round here. July 2018 was like that, with very few days where it didn’t reach 20°C. My house is actually colder than your lowest max temp, sad but true.
  2. I don’t think that’s true really. Apart from 2018 and 2013, recent summers have tended to be quite poor, especially away from the south east. Summers 2016, 2017 and 2019 were all wetter than average here, and contained little warmth. Yes, there has been hot spells at times, but then again it is extremely rare to have a summer with no hot weather at all, just as it’s rare to get a winter with no cold weather at all (ie air frost, ice, overnight snow showers etc). In general, UK summers have generally been quite poor since 2007. There have been very few (if any) summers where it’s been consistently warm, dry and sunny throughout all three summer months, whereas winter 09/10 was pretty much consistently cold and snowy from beginning to end.
  3. Interesting weather website you have there. Was interesting looking at the all time records and current observations. Your weather is definitely a lot better than the garbage I have to put up with! I’m guessing Dorset doesn’t do well for snow though.. I like your cat gif avatar by the way.
  4. We’ve always had plenty of rain, but I’ve noticed our summers seem to have got wetter in recent years. It’s not good.
  5. Temperature hasn’t gone above 15°C at Stonyhurst, Lancashire during the last six days. Absolutely pathetic. For those that don’t know, it is one of three weather stations that make up the CET (Central England Temperature), not too far from where I live actually. Considering the CET mean is currently 15.3°C, the other two sites must have had considerably warmer temperatures. Coldest spell of July weather I’ve ever known and the worst summer I’ve ever experienced (at least from a temperature/cloudiness perspective, though rainfall has been high as well yet again this summer). http://www.weathercast.co.uk/world-weather/weather-stations/obsid/99060.html
  6. Temperature hasn’t gone above 15°C at Stonyhurst during the last six days. Absolutely pathetic. And Stonyhurst isn’t some remote place in the Scottish Highlands either, it is one of three weather stations that make up the CET (Central England Temperature), not too far from where I live actually. Coldest spell of July weather I’ve ever known and the worst summer I’ve ever experienced (at least from a temperature/cloudiness perspective, though rainfall has been high as well yet again this summer). 7. My point was that in December 2010 we experienced the 2nd coldest December on record but you write it off as a winter just because January and February were milder. Most cold lovers would be satisfied with a freezing January, even if December and February were milder, just like most heat lovers would be happy with a really hot July, even if June and August were cooler.
  8. Mostly sunny here today but very chilly for July. It was a cold morning as well. Could see my own air. Windows steamed up at 6 am. Max 15.7°C. A chilly NW wind. Like a day in April or September, not July.
  9. Same here, and there is an outside chance we may not even reach 20°C this month given the way the better weather keeps getting downgraded/pushed back.

  11. You are very hard to please. Most cold lovers take whatever they can get, same with heat lovers.
  12. Depends where you are. The first seven days here had an average max temp of 15.3°C, over 2 inches of rain and only a few hours of sunshine. I’d say that is pretty horrific for July. Yesterday was like a summer day in the Shetland Isles, completely overcast all day with occasional drizzle and a max temp of just 13°C. Today is a bit better, partly cloudy and breezy but still very cool with a forecast high of just 16°C. Thankfully it’s looking a bit better by the weekend.
  13. Today is an improvement on yesterday - still cool, but partly cloudy and breezy. Last night was just like a cosy autumn evening watching telly with the lights on and the heating on, then snuggling up with the duvet in at night to get nice and warm. Getting serious autumn/winter vibes now. At least I’ve got steak pie and two chicken somasos in the fridge to look forward to, yummy. I know it’s depressing but I’ve kind of come to terms with the fact that there will be no summer this year (well really, we already had it in April and May). Already thinking about autumn/winter again.
  14. At least the temperatures should be higher though. High teens forecast instead of the 13-15C temps we’ve endured this week!
  15. Another cold and cloudy day yesterday with some occasional drizzle, Max 13°C. Atrocious for July, had to put the heating on as I was freezing, a first in July for me. It’s as if we’ve just completely bypassed summer and gone straight to October.
  16. Yes I woke slightly chilly yesterday morning and that was WITH the duvet on! Finally relented and put the heating on yesterday as I was freezing, a first in July for me.
  17. Yes it was freezing at around 5:30 this morning. Opened the window, breathed out and I could see my own breath. Like a November morning. Not the first time this summer either.
  18. They sure get much more exciting weather than us in the States. Tornados, snow, hurricanes, heatwaves, big thunderstorms, mega snowfalls. You name it, it’s happening. Everything is bigger in America. Where as we are lucky if we get settled snow for more than 12 hours and see the sun more often than twice a week lol. No wonder everyone is so depressed and miserable in this country.
  19. I don’t CARE what the stats say! It’s been an ABSOLUTELY atrocious month and unless the rest of the month is fine, sunny and mid 20’s temperatures then it’s a write-off as far as I’m concerned. Which looking at the forecast is extremely unlikely. If the Met Office say it’s been another warmer than average month I’ll eat my bunny rabbit.
  20. Today I had a max of 14.8°C and a min of 9.9°C. And it stayed overcast all day.. With rain by the evening... It's been like a typical summer day in Letwick lol. All that's missing is the strong winds!
