  1. Sadly the wet climate no longer has any use. It's just a nuisance now and a misery.
  2. Yeah I can't even manage temps in the mid teens at the moment. And never mind light showers they were quite heavy here.
  3. Whereas here it's turning into a swamp! Lashing rain, howling wind, blustery showers! ?? Top lawn is really long but I can't cut it because it just won't dry out fast enough!
  4. Well Summer 2019 might be over but on the bright side, it's less than 9 months until next summer! Seems a long way off but it will be here before we know it.
  5. Wet and windy again. ? What's going on??? Isnt the sun supposed to come out now the kids have gone back to school?
  6. Overcast and drizzly today but at least it’s been a bit warmer, temps have reached the high teens.
  7. Raining now, temp 13°. More like October weather. A few days ago the bbc weather app was forecasting today to be dry with sunny intervals and 15/16°. Why are we getting such poor weather at the moment? I've checked the forecast for other places and they are warmer, drier and they have more sunshine (today I haven't had any). London for example is currently partly cloudy and 20°. Penzance is mostly cloudy and 17°. Heck, even up in the north east it's warmer, Whitley Bay up in Tyneside (where my mum comes from) is at 16° and even Edinburgh is at 15°. Even windy Barmouth I'm Wales where I was on holiday a couple of weeks ago is 16°. The forecast for the rest of the week is very uninspiring - mostly cloud and rain with temps around 14/15°. And yet a week ago we were all boiling with temps in the high 20's. Thats the problem with this region - it's overcast, chilly and damp most of the time, but on the rare occasions when the sun does come out - the temperature soars and we all melt because we're used to it being chilly and wet. At least if I lived in the South East I could actually acclimatise to the heat but here I just can't. The weather really is a joke round here - it's either got to be boiling hot and cloudless skies or gloomy, wet and miserable - no happy medium. If you look at weather stats/averages , it won't look too bad as a few days of high 20's temps will balance out weeks of temps in the low teens, but of course it won't feel that way as a few hot days doesn't make a summer. So annoying as when we had that hot weather a week ago, those same places that I mentioned above (apart from the south east) were getting cooler more comfortable weather, whereas here it was hot and humid and too hot to go outside (for me at least). Wheras if I lived somewhere like Cornwall it would be 17-19°C most days between May and September with lots of sunshine and not that much rain (they get most of their rain in the winter unlike here). Its currently 18° in my house right now, and if it gets any colder, I shall be having to put the heating on - my neighbours have already got theirs on. And I was just looking forward to some nice cool and sunny September weather - you know, like we used to get. I'm not asking for much, 15-18° with some sunny spells and a gentle breeze would suit me fine. But we can't even manage that. I will be moving out of this craphole as soon as possible before I get depression. I feel like hibernating. Rant Over!
  8. Cloudy day, very cool and windy at 13°C, typical September weather these days.
  9. It’s happened to my mum lol she has a Doberman/Rockviller cross, he used to pull like mad. He once pulled her over when he was just 6 months old. Remember it well.
  10. Another mild winter would suit me well Sunny76, don't like the cold lol. Don't mind cold days too much as long as there's plenty of sun.
  11. It's dark, chilly and wet out there now, I pitty anyone who has to walk the dog out in this.
  12. I love how every thread on this forum eventually turns into a discussion about snow lol...
  13. Loving the darker evenings, it's finally getting dark at a more sensible time now. Can eat my tea in artificial light with curtains drawn which I prefer it that way. Don't like eating my breakfast in the dark though.
  14. Well it feels like we have switched from summer to autumn overnight. Freezing cold this morning, an arctic chill to the air. Now a case of sunny intervals and blustery showers, just as forecast, and still feeling very cool for the time of year at just 13°.

  16. Only 8 weeks and 2 days until the clocks go back! That's right, I'm actually counting down the days!
  17. 19°C, Mostly Cloudy with a fresh South-Westerly wind. Ahhhhh, that's more like it. Finally a normal summers day!

  19. I don't know, but as others have said, it's certainly been a summer of contrasts. The appalling first half of June (when people were wondering if it was going to be like this for the whole summer), the dry and benign first three weeks of July, the wet August (with the 2nd and 3rd week cool as well) interspersed with short periods of very hot weather. In my opinion, I think it's been a frustrating summer because of short freak heatwaves being balanced out by long periods of cool and unsettled weather. I don't enjoy very hot weather (above 25c) but I don't like long periods of cool wet weather either as it gets depressing after awhile. I would have personally preferred a more quiet and benign summer with longer periods of mainly dry conditions and slightly above average temperatures with shorter cool and unsettled periods, but it is what it is, I guess. The first three weeks of July were the best part of this summer in my opinion as we had a lot of dry and sunny weather but it wasn't too hot and the worst part of the summer was the first half of June because of the excessive rain and unseasonably cold temperatures. I hope next year we get a more bog-standard summer, with longer spells of dry and quiet weather with just brief unsettled periods with the occasional thunderstorm to keep things interesting. Also a Spanish plume in July because a British summer wouldn't be complete without one.
  20. As what usually happens the weather has dried up and the sky has cleared just as it gets dark... Felt really chilly and damp outside after the cold front passed today. Supposed to be a nice sunny breezy day tommorow before the next weather system arrives on Friday.
  21. It’s just because the cold front reaches the North West of England first. The past few days here have been hot and humid just like down in the South East. However now it feels too cold and damp. By tommorow we’ll all be in the cooler airmass.
  22. I agree. Only thing I can suggest is moving to the far south west ie West Cornwall. They are much more moderated by the sea so tend to escape most of the heat and it’s one of the sunniest parts of the country. In Penzance for example it’s been 19/20° and sunny most days this summer according to my weather app. Perfect weather in my book. Doesn’t seem to get much thunder though. https://weather.com/en-GB/weather/tenday/l/61cafcc6c397158e3dc8c5e29d6cd367a6006a2d5b6e9453188b27912c2a5f59
