On the edge of the squall now, gone dark, house lights flickering, view of the hills invisible. Aircraft still flying over, hats off to all the pilots. (Pardon the pun).

Morning Ireland, hope you all kept safe. Winds quite gusty here at the moment, squall on its way too. Hope most of you get to see some snow over the next few days.

Hoping to set off for Llandudno later this afternoon, may leave it until tea time, radar watching for now, nasty up the Orme.

Wouldn't like to be at the summit of the Great Orme in this
Supposed to be going to Llandudno today, daughter and I going later this pm, but that's not before we've assessed conditions at the time of travelling, may leave it till nearer tea time.

Got the wind picking up here in Cheshire, NW England, but nothing out of the ordinary yet, noticed that the rain for you has become more of an issue. Apart from a couple of showers earlier there has been no significant rainfall here yet. Will continue to track your thread.

Been able to hear the wind for the last 10 mins or so. Just dipped into the Ireland thread, it seems the rain has become more of a concern than the wind at the moment.

Getting gusty but not too bad yet. Looks like the real fun & games begin during the early hours onwards.
Yep, got the wind-up torch at the ready, in case l need the bathroom in the night, power outages can't be ruled out.

Wow, you would think the end of the world is approaching the way some people are reacting on here.
I cycled to to the top of the cliffs just past the boating pool in Blackpool, during the Christmas Eve 97 Storm and it was an experience I will never forget!
It's better to experience these things that life has to offer, Even if it involves taking some risks.
Your post reminded me of a Peter cook, Rowan Atkinson sketch about the end of the world, where the burning question was ' Will the wind be so mighty as to lay low the mountains of the earth?' Hilariously funny sketch.
I've a trip planned to N Wales tomorrow, but it all hinges on what the conditions are like then, decided to leave travelling until the afternoon after we've assessed the risks.

I'm lurking round this thread as Irelands weather can be a foretaste of things to come. I live NW region of England and have a trip planned to N Wales tomorrow, but this will hinge on conditions nearer the time. Hope you all stay safe.

Beautiful day here too at the moment, just dipped into the Ireland thread, all seems calm there for now.

2° according to my tablet app, but feels colder, had the back door wide open earlier to clean my cat flap. Heating having an extra half hour blast.

Just fish and chips for me in Llandudno, giving the mushy peas a miss. A house brick in each pocket too for the walk on the Orme.

Strong gusts and hail woke me at 3.25am, lay awake for a little while anticipating a flash of lightning and a clap of thunder, but didn't hear anything. Wind and rain at the moment. Looks like I'm in for a very windy few days in llandudno at the weekend.

Thanks for your reply, saw some charts on the mod thread two days ago all threatening snow after Tuesday, so I agree with you that I've probably picked the right time to go. Crib Goch a bit notorious and for the experienced, think I'll stick to the Orme.

Hi, itsnowjoke, not making meatballs tonight then?
I am going to Llandudno next sunday 9th Feb, until Tuesday 11th Feb, any thoughts from anyone as to what kind of weather to expect? Thanks.

Bright sunshine here now. Only the very tops of the hills still white. Don't think I'll get to have a stomp in it in my wellies later. I'm happy enough though to see snow for the second time this winter.

Morning. Remnants of snow on shed rooves and cars, a bit in a plant pot outside the back door, had a poke in it, it was more like hail. Looking further afield, the hills have had a decent dusting. Viewed the Cat and Fiddle web cam, the road is passable with care, however in the last half hour there has been reports of a lorry stuck 'just passed the cat and fiddle'. At this very moment it is SNOWING. Yay. Keep.safe lots of ice about.
Interesting on the weather report ([BBC) we may be in for hail and thunder at some point today. Exciting stuff.

Think you may be surprised.
If worst comes to the worst you are surrounded by Hills so you will be able to get your snow fix.
C.S
Yes, you are right, l have great views of surrounding hills, and if the snow hangs around long enough, there's nothing stopping me driving up there and having a good stomp about in my wellies. Fingers crossed l won't be working at the time.

Being 158m asl, l don't think Macclesfield will qualify for the 'smidgen' of snow forecasted, however l would love to be proved wrong. It's going to be quite exciting following this thread over the next few days, very interested to see who in the region has a taste of the old white stuff. Happy lamppost watching.

I had this vision of you stood outside lobbing your meatballs at random folk. I've been the target of many snowballs, but never a meatball.

Yep, certainly more seasonal, quite foggy here from about 3pm until 6pm, now clear and dry, current tablet app temp reading 2°.
Manchester Airport TAF weather report at 6.20pm pressure reading was 1048hPa.

Beautiful, sunny bright and crisp this morning, rooves were white over with frost. Stood at the back door watching a lone blue tit peck at a neighbours nut feeder until the poor little thing got dive bombed by two fat pigeons. Temp then was 1°. Expecting the gritters out in force again tonight. Current temp reading 4°. I'm out in the car early tomorrow morning, hibernating ice scraper ready for some action.
