Well well well. I liked the ECM yesterday and even better today. I believe the ECM and GEM would be the same as GFS if they continued. Like I said been looking at the ensembles and I’m sure there’s a big change coming. Deep LP plunging Nw/Se to usher in the cold. I gave a largish window of 10-17 Jan as things don’t happen overnight. That’s still ‘the plan’ as it were. Let’s hope this X Flare sunspot group Doesn’t ‘toast’ us
BFTP
I am also going to go for 15th onwards as signs are there and the charts are showing waning iberian heights allowing colder air to be brought further south. More runs needed but mid month onwards showing interest

THAT'S a beautiful chart. Let's hope gfs churns out some more and brings them into the reliable time frame. That's what we need...

Depressing watching BBC weather. Scotland takes the beautiful snow whereas the south gets mild boring Atlantic driven wind and rain to flooding amounts. Lovely what a crap part of the world to live ha ha

I can’t understand my co workers( young female secretaries born after 1990, so that might explain it), who prefer the 10c plus weather with cloud and rain instead of the colder weather we had where it was 5c and into the minus daytime temps, with clear sunny spells.
To add to that, these secretaries are from warmer climes, so non of them will ever appreciate a colder winter, just the milder muck.
You have my sympathies!

What a dung forecast from the BBC. No less than 3 major low pressure systems bringing boring rain and wind and mild temperatures. A borefest of the highest kind.

Merry Christmas All. Low pressure barrelling across the UK with stubborn euro heights makes for a mild, wet and windy Atlantic driven spell for some time sadly.

What a disgrace the gritters are here, didn't come out yesterday despite gritting the previous days, only did the main roads.
Obviously we missed the snow here again, but the sleety mix from yesterday has frozen and turned all the pavements and roads to ice.
What am I paying 225 pound a month council tax for!!
It's like we were diddled with no snow

Perhaps the snow fell somewhere else? That could explain it.

Yes we had about 15 cm in the space of an hour. I've never seen snow so heavy for so long. Normally heavy snow comes from a streamer rather than a mini low.
Certainly no bust, exceeded expectations!
I'll add (hoping not to annoy those who've been on the wrong side of marginal) warmer air is leaking in under the low, so I'm hoping we don't get too much melting overnight.
But a proper event for here ❄
Happy For you absolute bust here

Quite shocked at what we have had here. A few days ago it looked like a sprinkling and confined to East Kent, then going into today I optimistically expected we could get a couple of cms. After three hours of steady snow, we now have at least 2.5 inches. It helps when it settles on everything immediately...
We are getting a bit close to the back edge now and no longer in the bullseye, but obviously i want more... And if we're lucky and the stuff to the south moves north without drifting too much further East, hopefully we can sneak a few more hours...
A few photos from the last couple of hours:
