  1. Absolutely incredible for a small distant thunderstorm that didn't look up to much at first.
  2. Unofficial convective outlook Sunday Locally, 1000 J/KG of SBCAPE should allow for some active thunderstorms to form into a few clusters with 30 knots of bulk shearing. Large (150+ J/KG) amounts of 3CAPE suggests large low-level energy with active thunderstorms possible along a shortwave trough. Development of clusters along 2 PV lobes in the UK part of the slight risk and the Irish part of the slight risk, with surrounding weaker storms and weaker clusters possible. There's also a separate risk of a rumble or two with dynamic rainfall moving into the SE as well but generally the risk associated with that is low. Some 0.5-0.75 inch hail is possible given the 3CAPE and LLLR's. However, weak buoyancy in most places weakens that risk. That is also why I have limited it to a slight risk despite the amount of CAPE. Near 30,000 feet cloud tops are possible so some fairly frequent lightning in the storms are possible. However, air parcels won't have enough time in their convective state to use up that height except 1 or 2 storms.
  3. No shortage of random stuff today and then the distant thunderstorm to top it off. P1210289 copy.mp4 Fiddled around with some settings. P1210587 copy.mp4 P1210697 copy.mp4 And then the lightning. Stills to come tomorrow or tonight if I can be bothered. 4. You might have seen some distant lightning if you looked out earlier. I saw some and I was the other side of the SE to it. The lightning was jumping out the storm and fairly bright.
  5. What I got from my phone from the second CG. My camera was in a better position to get it though. 20230708_212916.mp4
  6. It's alright for something relatively unexpected as it looks rather good.
  7. Lightning and a couple rumbles of thunder to my east ish.
  8. Another timelapse from earlier. YouCut_20230708_192300077.mp4
  9. Storm to the west of me then died. Storm forms coming direct towards me then dies. That pushes the further storm development further east and out of my path. So, naturally those will probably survive. All in all not the luckiest of days.
  10. Really odd storm in the channel came out of nowhere. Hope it sparks a few more angled closer to me.
  11. @Turquoise a storm just formed near you... unfortunately it was right after Congleton. If you lived 5 miles in any direction today you'd have got a storm probably but no. Not yet.
  12. I'm going to get nothing after being teased all day aren't I?
  13. There's a bit to your far south. New storms could still pop up in the next 3 hours or so I would think.
  14. Anvil spreading out with some hail and frequent lightning with this storm. Imagine this over Congleton @Turquoise.
  15. It's rare not to see a storm look like that in that area of northern France.
  16. Slight change of flow later I think so the central south might just miss them if the CAPE transitions with the flow but that's based off the models which have been bad for today.
  17. Not bad for what isn't really much of anything other than a dying storm.
  18. So frustrating that it gave up before getting to me. YouCut_20230708_132300866.mp4
  19. Absolutely nothing here and it's not heading my way either. Well at least Kelvin turned up.
