  1. Thanks! My neighbour at the end of the lane has decided NOW is a good time to have his septic tank emptied, whilst everyone's windows are open, on the hottest night of the year, Whilst we are all down wind!!
  2. Just been to put car windows up and it was reading 26°c, how accurate @RebsAbbo ure local can u confirm? oh and we have a nice gentle breeze,
  3. I can concur, i am 20 miles or so north of you and it is much warmer than i was expecting, didn't expect to have the fans on full whack tonight, next couple of days will be challenging/interesting/horrible, depending on you heat persuasion!
  4. Off work for a couple of days, so a quick jaunt up the A1 tomorrow to pick a little motor bike up for my nephews birthday, good aircon in the van so all should be good, only downside is it's in Darlington which i believe is twinned with Baghdad!!
  5. Harvest still going strong tonight, farm opposite my cottage still got tractors relaying in and out, corn carting into the late evening, moisture must still be low enough to keep the combine going!
  6. Just been out to water the plants and i was surprised how warm it was still, higher base temp tonight to start things off tomorrow it would seem!
  7. Fwiw my old 'chalk' cottage which is end of a row with duel aspect lounge n main bedroom, both south n west facing windows, today south facing windows n blinds shut, west facing blinds at 50/50, windows wide open, bathroom/kitchen East facing, both windows wide open, good air flow, the dining room (middle) of the cottage is currently 20°c, i prefer air flow rather than stagnant air and i ain't sticking foil over my windows! The next few days will see if i end up eating humble pie!!
  8. Just had an E-mail from Northern power grid warning of potential issues on Monday and Tuesday and to be prepared
  9. Perfect day here today, 22°c with a nice breeze, sat outside with the hum of combinesand tractors buzzing away in the background!
  10. Thats my thoughts, my South facing windows and blinds will stay shut but my other windows will be open, i prefer air flow than a build up of stagnant air,
  11. Personally i am not 'frightened' i am off work so i will just 'chill' at home, but some of the dismissive comments about the upcoming heat on hear smack of 'willy waving' and it is pathetic! What is wrong with a little bit of caution for a couple of days? Which for SOME could be quite concerning!
  12. Your whole post is full of contradictions and you are basing your assumptions from a completely biased personnel point of view! You are amongst many on here that think the next few days will be 'a walk in the park' time will tell if that is true, i very much doubt this outcome unfortunately!
  13. And there was me thinking it was just for fun right?
  14. Yep left work nr Brid and drove home through it, temp dropped from 19c to 15.5c when i got to Burton Fleming,
  15. A couple of nice steady showers rolling through here in the last half hour, no where near enough but nevertheless quite welcome,🌧
  16. Iam more of the ilk that we are all northerners and at least we have roses! and we are not shandy drinking southerners
  17. I popped into the local clothes shop for a Kaftan in preparation for the upcoming heatwave but at the till i found i had to sign a waver that upon my purchase i would immediately depart Yorkshire and never return!
  18. I Used to be, now I'm 50/50 since i changed roles and took a step back, don't fancy being in our massive warehouse in the potential heat!
  19. Just gave it a try, working perfect, Many thanks Paul
