  1. Temperature got up to a high of 14.9⁰C at 17:41 and rainfall increased to 9.0mm today so far. Apart from that, it stayed dull and windy, but no more dull nor windy than earlier.
  2. Wet and windy, that’s about it. Temperature up to a high for the day of 14.3⁰C from a low of 8.5⁰C at 06:10, humidity is 87%, wind generally 6 to 11mph south-southwesterly with a maximum gust of 19mph, pressure is 1003.0hPa falling slowly, it’s currently raining with a total of 8.4mm today and 12.8mm in the last 24 hours, and cloud cover is a dense 8/8.
  3. Highest temperature of the day was 11.5⁰C at 13:32 sinking to the lowest of 7.3⁰C at 18:40 now back up to 8.8⁰C, wind varied from 4mph to 20 mph generally southwesterly, pressure is 1008.2hPa rising slowly, there’s been 7.2mm of rain today from cloud cover between 5/8 and 8/8.
  4. Today was mostly sunny with some cloud always present but no further rain until the last hour or two. 12.4mm of rain since midnight and 13.2mm in the last 24 hours. High temperature was 14.8⁰C at 15:06 and the low was 9.9⁰C at 21:25. Pressure is now 1003.2hPa steady and the wind has remained light all day.
  5. Well, I wouldn’t really call that a yellow warning event. Half an inch of rain? I think we must have been on the margins. Highest temperature today so far was 14.2⁰C at 11:00 up from a low of 11.4⁰C at 00:45 and now 13.4⁰C, humidity is 84%, wind 1 to 15mph south-southwesterly, pressure is 1005.3hPa steady, there’s been 11.2mm of rain since midnight and 14.2mm in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is 4/8 with clouds mostly to the north and clear sky mostly to the south.
  6. The much-vaunted yellow weather for rain has, as of 7pm, come to pass as it’s now raining. High temperature was 13.5⁰C at 14:11 up from a low of 7.7⁰C at midnight, humidity bottomed out at 74% at 14:30 down from a high of 94% at midnight and now 88%, wind 3 to 17mph southerly, pressure is now 1011.2hPa falling slowly, there’s been 0.6mm of rain so far today and 1.0mm in the last 24 hours and cloud cover was generally 8/8 except around lunchtime when the sun came out for an hour.
  7. Bit of a rubbish day today, but nothing to do with the weather, which was fine. Spent the morning mainly coughing up sludge from my lungs and the afternoon catching my breath from the morning’s exertions. No appetite, sats rubbish, and feeling very tired and shivery, but I didn’t realise how unwell I was feeling until I heard myself on the phone turning down an evening at the pub. However, a couple of hours in the west wing listening to the marvellous Simon Mayo on the wireless doing his Friday thang and downing a few beers in front of the fire has perked me up. Temperature got up to 12.1⁰C at 15:10 dropping to 5.8⁰C now, humidity is 91%, wind stayed mainly light, pressure is up to 1019.2hPa and still rising, no further rain and cloud cover remained around 5/8 until sunset.
  8. Yesterday, despite intermittent cloud banks rolling in, the temperature got up to a high of 9.2⁰C, which we’ve already exceeded now with 9.8⁰C up from a minimum of 6.1⁰C at 08:19, humidity is 85%, wind between 0 and 11mph west-northwesterly, pressure is 1015.4hPa and rocketing upwards, there’s been 2.0mm of rain in the early hours of today and 2.6mm in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is 5/8 although we’re currently in bright sunshine.
  9. Second frost day of the season and everything is clear overhead and crisp underfoot. My kind of autumn day. Temperature currently up to 3.8⁰C from a minimum of -1.3⁰C at 04:48, humidity is 95%, wind 1 to 5mph northwesterly, pressure is 1007.9hPa and rocketing upwards, there’s been no rain today and cloud cover is 0/8. As I opened the curtains in the kitchen to take the photo, the twenty rooks I wanted to photograph took off in fright leaving only the two short-sighted specimens you can see, still warming themselves in the morning sun. Maybe I should have put some clothes on.
  10. A slightly odd day due to having a sunrise, seemingly, at 6pm. Photo taken at teatime looking east. Meanwhile, looking west, the sky was a heavily overcast dark grey. Highest temperature was 12.1⁰C at 14:22, humidity got down to 72% at 14:23, pressure sank to 988.5hPa at 22:01, 1.8mm of rain fell today and 3.2mm in the last 24 hours.
  11. The focus today is on cloud cover, which has flipped from the permanent thick overcast of the last week to well broken cloud scudding in from the west and resulting in highly variable periods of sunshine and cloudiness. High temperature today was 11.8⁰C at midnight dropping to a low of 8.6⁰C at 04:58 and back up to 11.4⁰C now, humidity is 73%, wind 2 to 15mph westerly, pressure is 991.2hPa falling slowly, there’s been 0.4mm of rain today and 2.2mm in the last 24 hours, and cloud cover varies from 2/8 to 6/8 in next to no time.
  12. There was no more rain after lunchtime and the forecast thunder didn’t materialise, but the temperature kept climbing and reached 16.4⁰C by 16:50. Humidity has dropped to a low of 87% now and pressure is now steady at 995.7hPa having got down to 995.2hPa at 20:15. Maximum gust of wind today was 17mph southwesterly at 21:47. I’m assuming that cloud cover is still at 8/8, as it has been for days it seems, but it’s dark now so I don’t know for sure.
  13. It’s raining now, it was raining earlier and it’s forecast to rain later, maybe with thunder, but that’s not the news. It’s nearly 15⁰C in the second half of October! In Scotland! Unbefaffinglievable! Temperature currently the high for the day at 14.8⁰C up from a low of 11.8⁰C at 02:43, humidity is 92%, wind is 2 to 7mph southerly, pressure is 997.8hPa and plummeting like a rock, there’s been 4.0mm of rain so far today and cloud cover is a heavy 8/8.
  14. Today is mainly about rain. Not the constant, floating smirr of yesterday, but proper falling drops of rain. Strange thing is, it’s coming from all directions; sometimes hitting the windows at the front of the house, sometimes the back, sometimes slanted north to south and sometimes south to north. Currently not raining but it’s not far away. Temperature 14.1⁰C high for the day up from a low of 12.3⁰C at 11:20, humidity is 88%, wind 2 to 13mph sort of southerly right now, pressure is 1005.0hPa falling slowly, there’s been 6.0mm of rain today and 9.2mm in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is 8/8.
  15. The constant drizzle today was so fine that it didn’t seem to reach the ground but hung about just waiting for you to walk through it, and then it soaked you. Highest temperature was 14.4⁰C at 12:54, humidity was 93% to 95% all day, highest gust of wind was 7mph southeasterly at 15:00, pressure is now 1010.7hPa rising slowly, there’s been 10.6mm of rain today and 14.4mm in the last 24 hours and cloud cover was stuck at 8/8 throughout.
  16. Today is dull, overcast, mild and calm. That’s all I have to say on the matter. Temperature currently the high for the day at 13.8⁰C up from a low of 10.9⁰C at midnight, humidity is 95%, wind is 0 to 5mph south-southeasterly, pressure is 1008.5hPa rising slowly, there’s been 7.8mm of rain today and 15.8mm in the last 24 hours, and cloud cover is a heavy 8/8.
  17. I turned my boiler on yesterday morning when the internal temperature in the house fell below 16⁰C for the first time this autumn. The unusually hot summer had heated the 80cm thick cottage walls sufficiently to retain heat for longer than normal. However, the boiler is set to miser rate and only two radiators are on. House now at 18.1⁰C, which is plenty in my book but apparently up for discussion elsewhere...
  18. Oh right enough, there we are, just where we belong. By yesterday lunchtime a cloud had billowed up, and it was slowly joined throughout the afternoon by little friends, but they did nothing to spoil a beautifully warm and sunny day. Could have been Spring or Summer. I went up to the farm to see the pigs off and agree cuts with the butcher, then spent a couple of delightful hours sitting out the back of the steading with the sun on my face and a hen on my knee. Temperature currently at a high of 9.2⁰C up from a balmy low of 5.1⁰C at 07:18, humidity is 86%, wind 0 to 1mph southeasterly, pressure is 1016.7hPa steady, there’s been no rain in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is back to a solid 8/8.
  19. I remember Scotland being used as a guinea pig before, by that manky besom Thatcher, which didn't end well. In fact there was a bit of a stooshie. Can't find much to complain about here though. Except finding the place. First frost day of the season with a low of -0.2⁰C at 06:53 now up to 2.8⁰C, humidity is 96%, wind 0 to 2mph southeasterly, pressure 1021.7hPa rising slowly, there’s been 0.2mm of rain today and 3.0mm in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is a big fat 0/8. The map thing isn’t for me. I’m an undercover guinea pig. Talking of which, time to get up.
  20. Today is breezy but dry so far, which is good because this morning I shall mostly be fitting a new starter motor and turbo actuator to the Land Rover and I don’t want rain running down the gutter while I’m lying in it. High temperature was 11.9⁰C at 03:06 dropping to a low of 11.1⁰C at 07:00 and now 11.6⁰C, (the temperature elf isn’t exactly bursting a gut, is he?) humidity is 84%, wind between 3 and 17mph southwesterly, pressure is 1016.2hPa dropping like a stone, there’s been no rain today and cloud cover is 8/8. Again. Right, where’s my hammer..?
  21. It’s been completely overcast again this morning, chilly, breezy and the drizzle has returned. A perfect day to test my new winter jacket. The leaves are turning here now also. Temperature high was 13.7⁰C at 13:12 just before the rain started dropping the temp to 11.8⁰C now and up from a low of 11.4⁰C at 06:43, humidity is 88%, wind is 3 to 11mph westerly, pressure is 1024.4hPa steady, there’s been 0.2mm of rain today and cloud cover is a fairly thick 8/8.
  22. A mainly overcast day again with just a couple of flashes of sunshine in the morning left a day with a temperature high of 15.8⁰C at 12:19 up from a low of 11.3⁰C at 00:14, humidity low of 82% at 12:34 and high of 93% now, maximum wind gust was 7mph westerly at 01:16, pressure high was 1025.6hPa at 01:10 low of 1023.5hPa at 05:38 and now 1025.1hPa steady, there’s been 0.2mm of rain today and cloud cover has been 6/8 in the morning to 8/8 after lunchtime.
  23. Some very light rain around teatime has produced 0.2mm of rainfall, the temperature is now 10.8⁰C, pressure is down to 1026.1hPa and still falling slowly, wind has dropped to 1mph westerly and the 8/8 cloud cover means no northern lights are visible here.
  24. Quite a nice morning, for October, with decent brightness, only a light breeze and just the hint of a chill in the air. All in all, very usable. Temperature currently maximum for the day at 13.1⁰C up from a low of 7.9⁰C at 07:03, humidity is 82%, wind 2 to 8mph westerly, pressure is 1028.7hPa falling slowly, there’s been no rainfall in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is 7/8.
  25. A changeable sort of day really, generally a sort of bright overcast but with short spells of sunshine and a few light showers interspersed throughout. Temperature high of 14.0⁰C at 14:08 up from the low of 7.0⁰C at 06:49 and now 10.6⁰C, humidity 82%, wind 0 to 12mph westerly, pressure is 1028.5hPa steady, there’s been 0.2mm of rain today and 0.4mm in the last 24 hours, cloud cover has varied between 6/8 and 8/8.
