  1. Yes, and it kept getting colder until 08:53 today when the temperature hit -0.4⁰C although it bounced back to 7.0⁰C at 14:08 and has since sunk again to 3.2⁰C now, just as the sun is setting, with humidity at 83%, wind 0 to 1mph northwesterly with a maximum gust today of 7mph at 11:08, pressure is 1026.8hPa rising slowly, there’s been 0.2mm of rain today apparently, (melted frost methinks as there have been precious few clouds about,) and cloud cover has been a maximum of 1/8 all day. Maybe I made a wee mistook with the sandals; my feet are now royal blue. Back to the dressing up cupboard…
  2. The temperature has been dropping since midnight when it was 10.8⁰C to 3.2⁰C now, humidity is 90%, wind is 2 to 6mph west-northwesterly with a maximum gust of 15mph at 00:25, pressure is 1018.7hPa steady, there’s been 2.4mm of rain today and in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is 1/8 and the stars are out.
  3. Well, it appears that some diddy said the ‘S’ word out loud and now all the summer dossers have louped out of bed and are rampaging through the forums in their moon boots and bobble bunnets in anticipation of an epic dump. (of snow, just to be clear) Meanwhile I’m putting the winter attire back in the cupboard and bringing my shorts and sandals back out. Heating’s turned off again. High temperature for today was 12.2⁰C at 00:37 dropping to a low of 11.5⁰C at 06:55 and now back up to 11.9⁰C, humidity is 89%, wind is 3 to 10mph southwesterly with a maximum gust of 15mph at 01:49, pressure is 1023.8hPa steady, there’s been no rain in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is still 8/8 but a bit thinner in parts than yesterday.
  4. I suppose it’s a tad on the mild side today but not as mild as the forecasts predicted for here. Maybe we’re being held back by the thick cloud cover and successive sharp showers being blown through. Temperature high is 12.0⁰C now, up from a low of 10.2⁰C at 00:02, humidity is 93%, wind is 5 to 11mph west-southwesterly with a maximum gust of 16mph at 00:54, pressure is 1021.1hPa rising slowly, there’s been 9.2mm of rain today and 12.2mm in the last 24 hours, and cloud cover is a substantial 8/8.
  5. Not much change from earlier on with temperature, humidity and pressure staying much as was, and wind speed and rainfall amount increasing to 6 to 10mph southwesterly with a gust of 13mph at 18:33, and 2.6mm of rain. Temperature now 9.4⁰C, humidity is 93% and pressure is 1018.2hPa steady.
  6. Not a great morning with spells of cloudy, dull, dampness interspersed with sunny and rainy periods. Not much of a wind and, again, cool rather than cold. Temperature high was 10.1⁰C at 11:40 up from a low of 5.4⁰C at 01:48 and now 8.9⁰C, humidity is 88%, wind is 0 to 6mph south-southwesterly with a maximum gust of 11mph at 09:41, pressure is 1017.6hPa rising slowly, there’s been 1.2mm of rainfall today and 6.0mm in the last 24 hours, and cloud cover is currently 7/8.
  7. Ha! Touché. But it’s a fair case in point because, while I claim no great knowledge of football, I thought two weeks ago, after two dodgy wins against Israel and Faroes and losing Dykes to suspension, along with Denmark not only having won all their games but also not losing a single goal, that there was very little to no chance of Scotland beating Denmark. However, move on to the weekend just past, Scotland had secured a play-off place, the team played well against Moldova and we were scoring goals, whereas Denmark had conceded a goal, at last, against Faroes, had lost some key players to injury and were going to field two right-footed players in left side positions against us. At that point I was sure Scotland would win. Just shows how circumstances can change over a fortnight, in football as well as the weather. Today is dull and damp with a smirr of rain in the air although the wind is still light and it’s cool rather than cold. Temperature high today is 9.7⁰C now, up from a low of 7.4⁰C at 02:33, humidity is 87%, wind is 2 to 9mph southwesterly with a maximum gust of 13mph at 11:14, pressure is 1011.8hPa dropping fast, there’s been 0.2mm of rainfall today and in the last 24 hours, and cloud cover is 8/8 as it has been all morning.
  8. @Ravelin Really? Behave yourself! You should know better. Temperature didn’t improve over the afternoon, it stayed overcast, there was no more rain and the pressure dropped to 1023.0hPa now, falling slowly. The temperature is currently 8.4⁰C, so hardly arctic.
  9. It rained in the early hours and that left a dull and damp daybreak, but it’s been drying up and brightening up since then. Looking alright now. Temperature high was 11.4⁰C at 01:00 dropping to a low of 8.9⁰C at 08:19 then rising to the high of 11.4⁰C again at 12:03 and now 10.3⁰C, humidity is 87%, wind 0 to 1mph west-southwesterly, pressure is 1024.9hPa steady, there’s been 5.6mm of rain today and in the last 24 hours, and cloud cover is building up again at 7/8.
  10. It’s been dull and damp since daybreak and middling chilly with a liberal spreading of windiness. The less attractive side of autumn. Temperature high was 12.2⁰C at 01:13 dropping to a low of 9.5⁰C at 07:09 and now back up to 10.7⁰C, humidity is 91%, wind 4 to 13mph southwesterly with a maximum gust of 20mph at 12:37, pressure is 994.5hPa steady, there’s been 5.0mm of rainfall today and 6.0mm in the last 24 hours, cloud cover has been a pretty constant 8/8.
  11. Yesterday I went to the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock (who’d have thunk it, I expected a scout hut,) to get my booster and flu jabs, which were brilliantly organised and caused me no adverse reactions whatsoever. Today I went to my mum’s and got a corned beef roll, which is more my speed to be honest, and likewise suffered no adverse reactions. Also drove past the village library (converted phone box) where poppy man had installed himself. Applause to all involved; lest we forget. High temperature today was 11.5⁰C at 18:46 up from the low of 6.8⁰C at 08:59, humidity is 88%, wind is 3 to 7mph southerly with a maximum gust of 18mph at 18:41, pressure is 1005.6hPa falling fast, there was 1.0mm of rainfall today from 2pm onwards and cloud cover went from 2/8 this morning to 7/8 at sunset.
  12. Photos are of the River Garry at Killiecrankie in January 2010, looking north from the Tummel bridge. Today, there’s no snow but there’s no cloud either, except way over to the west, so it’s lovely and sunny. Cold though, so I’ll have to dress appropriately for my trip to the vaccination centre for my flu and covid booster jabs later. High temperature for today was 9.7⁰C at midnight dropping to 2.1⁰C at 07:36 and now up to 6.8⁰C, humidity is 89%, wind is 1 to 4mph southwesterly with a maximum gust of 8mph, pressure is 1020.7hPa rising slowly, there’s been no rain in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is 1/8, all to the west.
  13. A dull start to the day has brightened up to the extent that the sun broke through a couple of hours ago and is still shining. Breezy and cool so far. Today’s high temperature so far was 11.9⁰C at midnight dropping to a low of 9.7⁰C at 03:08 and rising again to 11.1⁰C currently, humidity is 85%, wind is 4 to 10mph south-southwesterly with a maximum fust of 12mph at 12:40, pressure is 1014.1hPa steady, there’s been 11.0mm of rain in the early hours of today and 18.6mm in the last 24 hours, cloud cover has been breaking up since sunrise and is now 2/8.
  14. Apologies, I have a note from my Mum, I’ve been poorly. That is a fabulous photo; all it needs is snow-topped mountains on the horizon to be a perfect ‘four seasons in one day’ study. Here, it’s more of a monsoon in one hour sort of day. Temperature is currently the high for the day at 11.8⁰C up from a low of 2.2⁰C at 00:48, humidity is 94%, wind is 0 to 5mph southerly with a maximum gust of 8mph, pressure is 1013.8hPa falling slowly, there’s been 6.2mm of rain so far today and it’s raining now, cloud cover is 8/8.
  15. Not short of weather this morning, and pretty dynamic weather at that, with wind and rain in abundance. Forecast is for less rain and more wind, which will be interesting. Temperature is 10.8⁰C, high for the day so far and up from a low of 9.2⁰C at 07:35, humidity is 93%, wind is 2 to 8mph south-southwesterly with a maximum gust of 19mph at 10:49, pressure is 1007.8hPa dropping like a stone, there’s been 7.4mm of rain today coming through in heavy squalls, and cloud cover is a weighty 8/8.
  16. I never had the opportunity to work on a hospital design team, unfortunately, as it would have been fascinating. However, I seem to remember from basic design principles that windows in a subterranean situation can prove less than functional. To be fair to them, the assessment unit is only supposed to be a brief, evaluative stop between A&E and the ward to which one is subsequently directed. That’s how it’s worked on my previous visits. This experience was simply another example of the extraordinary pressure the hospital is under currently. Temperature high for the day so far was 11.2⁰C at 13:02 up from the low of 5.0⁰C at midnight and now 10.8⁰C, humidity is 88%, wind is 0 to 2mph westerly with a maximum gust of 7mph at 12:27, pressure is 1021.9hPa steady, there’s been 1.0mm of rain overnight and cloud cover is 8/8 now after a brighter start.
  17. I didn’t get home from the hospital until after sunset so I had to rely on various phone calls to be able to confirm that it was a lovely day here. And, as I didn’t ever make it up to the full fit to burst respiratory ward, (“anyway, it’s no place for a sick person, sir”) I also relied on phone conversations to inform me that it’s been beautiful weather ever since Monday. (The assessment unit doesn’t have windows.) I can however confirm from first-hand experience that it’s currently flipping cold out. High temperature today was 8.9⁰C at 13:55 up from the low of -2.1⁰C at 06:37 and now 1.8⁰C, humidity is 88%, wind 0 to 7mph westerly, pressure is 1020.7hPa rising slowly, there’s been 0.2mm of rain today and in the last 24 hours, and I don’t know how much cloud cover there is because it’s dark.
  18. There were occasional breaks in the cloud to let some sunshine through but none that lasted long enough to dry up the rain that had fallen, leaving a generally damp feeling day. High temperature for the day was 10.7⁰C at 13:18 and the low was 3.8⁰C at 20:18 with 4.8⁰C currently, humidity is 94%, wind varied between 0 and 11mph southerly, pressure is 974.2hPa steady, there was 3.0mm of rainfall today and in the last 24 hours and cloud cover varied between 5/8 and 8/8. October highs were temperature 16.7⁰C, humidity 96%, wind 20mph, pressure 1030.1hPa and rainfall for the month was 238.4mm. October lows were temperature -1.3⁰C, humidity 60% and pressure 973.8hPa.
  19. I was beginning to wonder whether I’d ever see blue sky again. Temperature high was 10.1⁰C at 11:49 up from a low of 7.3⁰C at midnight and now 9.7⁰C, humidity is 87%, wind is 2 to 7mph southwesterly, pressure 987.3hPa rising slowly, there’s been 11.0mm of rain early this morning and 25.4mm in the last 24 hours, and cloud cover is 3/8. Hurrah!
  20. A slow start to the day today following an impromptu and lengthy visit to the pub last night, which I think I remember ending in a very wet walk home. It’s still very wet out. I’m staying in. High temperature was 11.8⁰C at 00:51 dropping to a low of 8.6⁰C at 12:01 and now up to 8.7⁰C, humidity is 95%, wind 1 to 7mph westerly, pressure is 986.6hPa falling slowly, it’s currently raining steadily with 13.4mm so far today and 26.4mm in the last 24 hours, and cloud cover is a very heavy 8/8. Yellow warning for rain in place today and continues into tomorrow. Photos from yesterday, before the heavens opened.
  21. The rain has reduced to a constant drizzle, thankfully, as most of the roads surrounding the village are flooded with some impassable, although not to the Land Rover obviously. The wind has also dropped and the temperature is still on the mild side, leaving the day feeling dank and dismal. Temperature high was 12.7⁰C at 05:15 up from the low of 11.6⁰C at 00:53 and now 11.8⁰C, humidity is 94%, wind 1 to 5mph southerly, pressure is 997.1hPa steady, there’s been 6.2mm of rain today and 42.4mm in the last 24 hours, and cloud cover is 8/8 again, which is getting a tad tedious.
  22. Not quite. 44.8mm of rain so far today with a rate of fall currently at 1.8mm/hr, so not likely to even make 45mm.
  23. Well, it turned out that I had to go to the shops, which meant taking to the new river network we have here, where the roads used to be. It rained heavily throughout my trip and we’re now up to 25.4mm of rainfall today, or a inch, as Jacob Blocked-Bog would say. Meanwhile pressure is now at 1000.0hPa and dropping like a shopping trolley off a canal bridge, and it’s getting really quite dark. Oh joy.
  24. It’s a rainy day but mild and pretty calm. Not an ideal day to be out and about, so I’m not. High temperature was 15.0⁰C at 11:16 up from a low of 12.3⁰C at 05:02 and currently 14.6⁰C, humidity is 91%, wind generally 2 to 7mph south-southwesterly with a max gust of 14mph at 00:22, pressure is 1003.0hPa steady, it’s pouring right now with 11.4mm having fallen today and 15.2mm in the last 24 hours, and cloud cover is a thick 8/8 making for a very dull day.
