At least there’s no sign of a definitive Atlantic breakthrough though, seems to be struggling a fair amount to return us to a zonal flow. Whether it leads to anything more interesting is another matter.
It would be such a shame if our first properly blocked pattern in December in years was let down by the lack of cold 850s around. Hoping if we maintain the pattern for long enough during December then eventually we’ll get lucky. Big if though.
Very enjoyable model watching for the lockdown period even if the uppers aren’t quite there yet. Beats having endless runs just showing south westerlies all the way through winter.
Looks like the GFS 12z is trying to repeat a similar pattern later on as well. Seems to be reluctant to re-establish a flat zonal flow at the very least.
A fairly chilly day 10 mean on the ECM. Good to see the vortex still moving away from Greenland on this run as well. Just hoping that the 00z run tomorrow doesn’t blow up the low again.
