  1. Break in the clouds just now and full moon with storm force winds - atmospheric! Break in the clouds just now and full moon with storm force winds - atmospheric! Apologies for double post!
  2. Wind gusting strongly and horizontal rain showers. Pattern for next 12 hours...
  3. The rain here in the South West has been torrential although fairly localised. Intense rain in the Channel sweeping up to Sussex Coast. Local weather forecast said winds stringers from 22.00 tonight onwards 80mph gusts.
  4. Was in Honiton this morning and torrential rain for 2 hours. Drive back to Colyton via Northleigh just about passable in 4x4. Run-off from fields like nothing I've seen before. Had a brief interlude of drizzle but rain now returned. I would say that if you live in East Devon area only venture out if 100% necessary.
  5. Had 3 sleet/hail showers today in Colyton. Intervening periods were calm and bright. River levels have fallen so hopefully we are over the worst.
  6. Some of the hail last night was intense around the squall lines which came through. Still heavy rain and wind.
  7. Hail storm in Colyton. Pretty dramatic and squally winds. Just clearing East now.
  8. -1c nr Colyton right now. Doesn't take long for temps to fall when clear at this time of year that's for sure.
  9. Lovely sunny day here. Max of 8c. Just a gentle shower clearing through Colyford now. Clear patches so could get to -3 in the frost hollows.
  10. Just double checked and flood Alert for Axe and Coly round here issued 13.34 this afternoon.
  11. Colyton, Devon slap bang in the firing line all day. Drains not coping and River Axe dangerously high. Check out www.raintoday.co.uk. Basically a 100 mile south to north conveyor belt of steady rain interspersed with downpours. More to come. Any Met Office warnings or too localised?
  12. Heavy rain for past 1 hour, hail and gale force wind on coast at Axmouth. Unpleasant!
  13. 3 overnight thunderstorms. Last one just clearing through. Intense rain. Hope we are in the edge of a drier interlude as Axe Valley floodplain is covered and water nowhere to go now, so flooding a real possibility.
  14. 12c here nr Colyton. Not much rain so far today. May have dodged the worse of it for a change.
  15. Getting battered by 'streamer' like intense cells of rain and wind near Lyme Regis. Spinning up from the Channel and headed East/NE so incoming for Southampton in say 1-2 hours then Sussex/Surrey borders say 2-3 hours. Hail in the mix too. Local flooding.
  16. Stuck in a 'Lyme Bay streamer' of intense showers here nr Colyford. Unrelenting.
  17. Just to let those in southern counties know, there is an intense, squally band of rain over me in East Devon right now. It's the heaviest feature we've had over the past stormy 3 weeks. Batten down the hatches as its a powerful and windy rain event.
  18. Squall hitting Seaton now, intense rain and wind. Rumble or two of thunder?
  19. In Wadhurst today. Power was off from 2am to 3pm. The drive across from East Grinstead was eventful. Many trees down every dip was flooded. The Medway at Ashurst was a 1/4 mile wide in parts - normally 12 ft. This was twice as bad as St Jude IMHO.
  20. In East Grinstead this morning. Plenty of trees down. A22 near Sackville closed as they are chainsawing a tree, ditto Imberhorne Lane. Winds died down a couple of hours ago. Rain still torrential.
