    Last year, with the long teased cold spell, the models were having to deal with dartboard lows and potential sliders that would need to be precisely positioned to a 50-100 mile area for the following high pressure spell to evolve ideally (for cold). This year is a bit different in that respect. Hopefully the European model has it right.

    Thinking back to last year and the cold that was teased for weeks but never truly came, the models had bowing ball lows and sliding lows to deal with going into the cold. This time they don’t. Could that be the difference?

    If the high res models are right, we could actually see some of the very worst winds in a possible sting jet. Let’s hope it doesn’t materialise.

    Father-in-law lives alone in an exposed detached house in the middle of the Lincolnshire fens. Looking at those high-res models, he could be right under a sting jet. Extremely worrying.
