Two screenshots from the Met Office infrared satellite from this evening. If anyone can tell me that Darcy's leading edge (over Germany) isn't moving E/NE and the trailing edge arced back over France also isn't moving E/SE then they can see something in the movement that I can't. Anyway, bedtime now. I look forward to being wrong...
This has been discussed... it splits out a branch west.

Watch the last frame... Darcy has begun ever so slightly her movement WEST

Hey!
Been looking at these forums for years (mostly in the winter) but have never commented.. I decided I should make an account and get in on the action!
Excited about the next few days, I’m based in south east Essex and thinking back to 2018 / 2010 it seemed that we had an almost constant flow of show showers for 2-4 days thanks to Thames Streamers and snow depths locally up to my shins... wondering how this might compare.
Wind gusts have really picked up now! Sounds different in my house it coming from the East rather than the usual W/SW.
Welcome fellow SE Essex person ! I’m new today too.

Effectivly there is a little low that forms over the next few hours over the channel (which is why the front is moving westwards atm) which then moves eastwards. As that happens it pushes the precip shield westwards (in the same direction the front is moving). At some point the low gets far enough east that the wrao around no longer gets any further west and then starts to pull back away eastwards. Once that happens we will move into a more classic showery pattern.
Thanks Kold. So effectively Darcy splits in 2?

Genuine question... if the storm is tracking N/NE, which it appears to be (been watching it for the last hour), what would make it split out and branch over the channel to the UK? The direction of the wind?
This is exactly as the met and bbc have said it would go so im not worried, just a genuine question.

With 'Darcy' expanding but still moving E/SE as a system, unless its expansion is faster than its movement away it will miss the UK entirely at the current rate of progress.
Yeah, but it chucks a left at Calais.

Am I right in saying that any early snow being reported on here already is not that from Darcy? remnants of the batch that moved west/south west earlier?
Any darcy snow should start right on the east coast? Maybe Great Yarmouth area?
