    There’s basically a chance of isolated storms, but the chance is quite low for any particular spot. Sunday looks like it will probably be the better day.

    Yeah they were probably the biggest I’ve seen for a long while. The storm itself was very small, barely a few miles across, but a surprising amount of thunder and lightning.

    Interesting feature being suggested on Thursday. Not much cape present so I don’t know if it’s suggesting elevated convection or a convergence zone.

    Turned into a perfect late summers day. Back from work early, relaxing in 24 degrees and a nice breeze.

    I have a similar conundrum. I start work at 9, ukv currently shows the mass of thundery rain around 3/4am so it’ll be a bit of a struggle at work.

    Very well done explanation and a good read. Hopefully nothing like that happens in near future, because as much as we like storms, severe damage and loss of life obviously isn’t good. I saw this video recently on this event which was an interesting watch.

    I get most weather apps struggle with forecasting thunderstorms, but sometimes they’re so wrong it’s laughable.

    My dad turns 56 on Saturday and I feel very sorry for him as we’ve got some outdoor activities booked.

    I think my location has had like 9 days of thunder so far and we’re not even in august yet. Prob one of the best years for a while. I understand other places especially the south coast haven’t much but perhaps mid-late august and into autumn (like last year) might give some surprises

    Really is a perfectly useable day where I am. 22 degrees with warm sunny spells and pockets of cumulus passing by. Good weather to be working in.

    I’m doing it by my iphone, when I press ‘add files’, it gives me the option to add from my photo library or choose files. From photo library it just attaches it directly, from ‘choose files’ it uploads it as a file to download. Not sure if your device isn’t allowing from a photo library, or you’re using desktop in which case it’s a bit different

    From how many I’ve seen, they’re not that rare. A lot of shower and storm clouds produce them under the anvil, usually most visible when the storm has passed. The ones in your photo are quite pronounced, which I think the more pronounced ones are rarer. Most pronounced I’ve ever seen were from June 2019.
