  1. @danm @cheese Yeah the forecast Danm just posted looks vastly improved so fingers crossed!
  2. TwisterGirl81 Don't worry, I haven't missed Exeter out, they're on the UK County table that will be posted once the last 3 stations bother to complete their data lol
  3. Waiting for UK county data... Here is all the official Met sunshine data for 24 locations throughout the UK for 2024. Note how the Scottish Highlands are the sunniest place so far this year
  4. As I'm waiting for data to come through for my regular English Counties, in the mean time, here is the past 3 months for the whole UK!
  5. danm 20c & completely overcast skies, what an absolute waste lol. I actually hope it doesn't happen & our first 20c day is reserved for an actual decent day with lots of sunshine
  6. WYorksWeather I'd definitely take a set up of months like that lol. If April passes 50mm of rain, which is looking likely by the forecast of the first 10 days alone, this will be the 19th month out of the last 21 in my area to record over 50mm of rain. I beg for a drought!
  7. Metwatch There better not be anyone who even dares mention "drought" or "needing rain" if we're lucky to get a few dry & sunny weeks this Summer! I will go absolutely ape lol.
  8. In Absence of True Seasons I've already seen return flights under £100 for Corfu, very tempting! Didnt realise Cuba was cheap??
  9. Imagine this scenario played out in terms of rainfall & sunshine- April 2024- 96hrs sun/127mm rain, the unsettled theme somehow got worse! May 2024- 65hrs sun/234mm rain, the unsettled grey/wet guff intensified, making May 2021 look like perfection in comparison! June 2024- 15hrs of sun/302mm rain, people at this point were absolutely begging for a June 2012 as unprecedented dullness & floods eliminated UK as the rest of Europe began to enjoy a gorgeous Summer! July 2024- 109hrs of sun/100mm rain, the first 10 days featured 90 hours of sun and only 5mm of rain making some think we finally got out of Satan's pattern only for it to return with a vengeance from the 12th! August 2024- 0hrs sun/450mm rain, As payback for 10 days of settled weather, low pressure began to fall asleep and start snoring over the UK as not a single minute of sun was recorded and it rained every single day. Meanwhile the rest of the world had the best summer ever, with only UK missing out! If this were to happen, how would you react?
  10. baddie Any long range forecast suggesting a pattern change is a bust really. When (or if) we start seeing a change about 4 days out then we might have a chance of breaking out of this perma dull/wet loop. April 7th is about 700 lightyears away in meteorological terms! Lol.
  11. Best day of the year so far IMO, lots of sunshine, including wall to wall blue sky from about 12:30, nice temperature and completely surprising too considering the forecasts whispered grey gloom for most of the day! Hopefully we won't have to wait too long til the next nice day and even better, a week plus of this type of day at least. Enjoy your Easter guys
  12. An unforecasted hour of blue sky! Met Office had guff for this entire past week but they got it wrong pretty much every day. Hasn't been a bad week comparing to what they had lol.
  13. This day back in 2021 we had one of my favourite days of recent times. 23 degrees and wall to wall sunshine! I remember being in the garden all day with a few gins & music
  14. Alderc 2.0 By the time we get a pattern change, it will be new years eve again! Lol. Hoping for a 2018 switch around.
  15. SunnyG Yeah TBH, I don't mind those days where you get a passing shower & then lots of sunny spells. Far better than a day or week of constant unbroken cloud. It hasn't been perfect, the past week, but it hasn't been terrible either. Hopefully we will get endless high pressure & sunshine soon at some point though!
  16. Cor blimey, one area doing fantastic this month is Stornoway in the far North West of scotland- 130 hours of sunshine already!!! Absolutely eclipsing anywhere in England. Manston in Kent is on 85 hours, so a full 45 hours of sunshine behind!!! What on Earth is going on??? Lately there seems to always be a random area being king for sunshine recently, be it Aberdeen, Cork or now Stornoway. South East England just making up the numbers these days! Wow.
  17. A fairly fine & bright morning has now given way to one of the ugliest sights on Earth- Stratocumulus!
  18. I think I'll go for 2003. Lots of sunshine spread throughout the month with hardly any long dull periods. Great year with levels of sunshine that may never be repeated. Also contenders- 1995 (Too young to remember but looked awesome) 2018 (Only let down by 2 months- prefer a much sunnier March & April- although the mid April warm period was amazing) 2022 (Pretty consistent & lovely but let down by September, which is my birthday month! November was a soaker too) I would take any of those 4. However then you have years before I was born or the year I was born like 1989 with that immensely sunny May to August period or 1959 which had an even longer sunny period. Give me all of those 6 in a constant loop thanks! The loop- 1959, 1995, 2018, 1989, 2003, 2022 & rinse & repeat. This year has a similar start to 59 in terms of sunshine, especially if April is crap too so here's hoping the rest of the year follows 59 now!
  19. Problem is, we've been saying this for ages now, not to write off a month after the 1st week of crap but unfortunately, it's like a disease. If the 1st week sucks then that usually means the whole month will be complete garbage too- Going by this never ending pattern of satanic torture. We can always hope however! For me, if the 1st half of April & beyond does indeed continue with this shower of crap then I'll have no option but to use up more of my money & go abroad again. It's beyond a joke at this point & all the doors out are currently locked shut & deadbolted.
  20. I think the next season to be drier than average will be Summer 2044. Also the next month to have more than 200 hours of sunshine, also in 2044 and I'm going for July! And yes that's not a typo, 2044, not 2024. This is our country now- mild, wet & grey! Pattern hasn't changed for months on end so I'm not expecting it to go back to normal in the near future. Welcome to Faroe Islands 2.0!
  21. Looks like 2024 is shaping up to be the dullest & wettest year on record. I hate this country.
  22. Well, after 2 days of respite with nice amounts of sunshine on Saturday & Sunday we have been plunged straight back into the demonic & laughably unrelenting pattern of absolutely shambolic miserable cack that has plagued us almost non stop since March 2023. What will it take to get us out of this utter crap? Also hilarious how any long range forecast that predicts rubbish is 100% accurate but anything forecasting a pattern change to something more interesting & sunnier has about 0.4% accuracy. This country's climate is as enjoyable as tripping into a wood chipper.
  23. I think I am about to faint...2 nice days in a row with plenty of sunshine? Have the weather gods finally forgiven us? Probably not considering next weeks forecast is pretty dire but it has been nice to finally get a couple of decent days back to back. Last time this happened in my back garden was the 18th & 19th of January!
  24. Amazingly, today has turned out pretty OK overall. Not wall to wall sunshine but lots of sun spread throughout the day and a mix of everything from sun, wind, rain & dark cloud. Rather days like this than the infinite grey & monotone sheet.
  25. Never ceases to amaze me at just how quickly a clear sky gets overtaken & diseased by clouds. Oh well, we got our 1 hour of sun for the week lol.
