  1. Unexpectedly very windy, my mind was on snow watch not wind watch. No snow here in Grimsby, but apparently snowing down the road and home in Immingham, can't see anything sticking, too wet and not cold enough for starters.

  2. Well hello, haven't posted for well over a year, a few names I still recognise here and many I don't!  First signs of something colder on the horizon - tbh my levels of enthusiasm are at rock bottom... what a December it has been, must have been the warmest on record - a really crazy Winter so far.

I cannot see much in the way of Snow after this blow torch Winter to date - happy to be proved wrong!  My mind quickly thinks back to 2010 which was an exceptional Winter here in Grimsby, described as a 1-30 year event - I am not expecting anything equally wonderous any year soon.

  3. Yes I agree with the recent posts this Northerly despite the hype has produced diddly squat... its been raining all morning and early afternoon... and yesterday was just as bad... where is the darn snow! The pre-run up to the Northerly - the supposedly not-so-cold part, produced more snow.. incredible!

  4. So far this period has been pretty disappointing for Lincolnshire and Eastern England aside from cold temperatures and the odd flurry. It seems the thread is on the cusp of talking about next weekend again and 'what could be' rather than hoped snowfall for the masses this week.

I do hope to see some positive news from posters this week, its been ages since we've seen any meaningful snowfall - aka Nov 2010.

I hope this Northerly delivers a raging Easterly would be the icing on the cake.

  5. Same here, its only 2.8C with a dewpoint of 1.3C yet its still rain.

Seems we cant win whether there's an onshore breeze or a westerly. Hopefully chances will improve when colder uppers arrive from the North. Its highly frustrating.

Yeah, took the dog for a long walk earlier, could see a lot of rain clouds over toward the north bank, seems we stayed dry for somewhat longer. Thought we were missing out on something good cos it 'feels' right conditions for snow.. but actually not!

  6. MO update has cranked up the wintry potential next week, increasing risk of snow, severe frosts and freezing fog. This is great news considering some output yesterday showed a return to the usual Atlantic pattern by the middle of next week but this morning's models show a more prolonged cold spell with ample snow opportunities for much of the UK next week, any breakdown beyond that is just a possibility so it's all systems go for our best cold spell since Dec 2010. :-)

Well forgetting the long period of cold temperatures that were essentially the talking point of Dec 2010 for most parts of the UK, in my part of the country we saw most likely the highest amount of snowfall, an exceptional 18inch, well over a foot (remembering from top of my head) was recorded.  That sure would take a whole lot of beating - and its only 5 years on from what was at the time deemed a 1 in 30 year event.

However having said that I truly hope you are right, like most on this forum I love Snow - it brings back the child in all of us + a few days off work ;-)
