  1. Well we still have power. I am on my pc for this post as my wifi is rubbish. Wind kicking off a bit now. Gonna go and watch it. Hoping John is right and the low doesn't stall - but we never know til it happens. Stay safe everyone. Yes we just had this. I'm not far from you. Picked up again now.
  2. Has the storm actually got stronger than was being predicted last night? And what sort of time would we be expecting the storm to be really kicking off here at Gatwick please?
  3. Thanks that is quite worrying. I thought it was much further along. No idea what the current pressure is here. Barometer is downstairs and I still half asleep. Rain is relentless. Been watching our powerlines waiting around. Bugga me. An aircraft has just taken off!
  4. Getting quite a few worrying gusts here near Gatwick. Got woken by the wind and the dog whimpering. Is this it or is it going to get worse? Sorry to sound lame but half asleep.
  5. Have a terrible head and am going to get some shut eye. Will wake if it gets worse. Consistent rain now and windy. Gatwick still landing aircraft.
  6. Yes we are gonna secure stuff in the garden in a bit. Still worried about our powerlines. Some really big trees around here.
  7. Morning. back online. We already woke to a power cut this morning. Is that an omen it won't be bad or far worse than we hope. Pretty nasty winds here last night too. Will try to keep up with everything today.
  8. Thought I would say Hi in this forum. I am down on Surrey/Sussex border. I used to be further north in Epsom. I am in a more rural area and we have overhead electricity which is different for me and thus I am paying more attention to this storm. I am also not scientific with regards weather but willing to learn. Sorry in advance if I ask any stupid questions.
  9. Looks interesting Matt. Why are their such variations with different weather runs?
  10. Dunno about wellies lol. The only thing we bought extra was a couple of candles and a saucepan. We also are all electric apart from the gas to the boiler. We have a fire for heat if required and can cook in our new saucepan on the chimnea if the electric goes. We should be having a generator arrive today but even though OH paid for 2 day delivery, the email said Wednesday 30th. Still long time in weather hours before we know for certain.
  11. I too don't post much but have decided to log in as I now live in a rural area with overhead power in Surrey. I also shamefully slept through the entire '87 storm. And yes if my OH is reading this, it is me. I am actually starting to worry. The overhead cables go through our garden and near the house.
  12. Sorry predictive text. Was speaking to Rediohead but I think these maps answer my question.
  13. Sorry to sound daft Radiated as I am no weather expert, but that track looks quite high. Is it still on course as before or has it moved?
  14. Had quite heavy snow about 4pm til 5.30pm though ground was wet so only a "dusting" of the white stuff. Tis chilly and it will no doubt freeze but I suspect we wont get much more here - it's a miricle to get a dusting here!
  15. Sky darkening now with a Westerly blowing up a treat. Ah go on Mr Fundy-Lightning - do your worst!
  16. Up til Midday all was calm and hot and sultry here. However at about 5 past the wind started to pick up quite a bit. Sky that white overcast look with the odd yellow patch in places. Breeze quite cool. It's my Birthday on Sunday and I was hoping for thunderstoms this weekend since the snow we last had here some months ago. I guess it'll by-pass us as usual! Most good weather does!
  17. Snowing: moderate to heavy. Laying snow: 2-3cm in places, though roads and paths pretty clear. Very cold!
