  1. That was close. Aircraft came out of Gatwick over our house which they never usually do. I sat here watching it barely taking off and being thrown from side to side. I do hope they stop flying soon
  2. Just let the dog out. I ended up standing outside for about 15 minutes and felt a tad worried. Some of those gusts are powerful. If it is going to increase then may be the odd tree down around here! Raining, but not torrential. Gatwick have still been flying though not seen one go up for around 10 minutes now. Maybe they are dodging the gusts. The last one's take off looked very scary. One is just heading out now and the wind has dropped.
  3. I can confirm Gatwick is still operational. I cannot deny or confirm delays from here though. Virgin 747-400 due to leave to the US soon though.
  4. Morning all. Got doggy out before 9am for his walk which was cold, wet and slippy with the mud. Just noticed they have upper our area into the orange zone on MetO website. Will be off to get the weekly shop in a bit as we don't fancy being out this evening. Sunroom leaking on cue. Now realise the whole wall is soaked and it needs to be dried out and rendered. Happy Vallingtines all.
  5. Thank you for your charts JP. Sorry this is a bad time for you. Time is a great healer - of the immediate pain anyway. Have a peaceful weekend - weather permitting!
  6. Thank you to Tamara, JP, Surrey and others for their continued reports and models. I am actually starting to understand things now lol
  7. Getting gusty. I have got to go for blood test then go to fetch my meds. Gonna be out in this. Wish me luck :-(
  8. Morning all. Currently dank and grey outside. I have to go out between 11am-1pm am hoping this won't hit then. Someone needs to man the buckets. Stay safe especially Surrey and stainesbloke.
  9. Sorry to hear about your mum stainesbloke. Awful thing to happen to anyone. Pales into insignificance in comparison but our sunroom roof is still leaking and it's got worse - so much so we have water and damp coming into the lounge now through the wall. The roofers can do nothing til we have at least 2 days dry weather. So, not looking forward to more rain.
  10. Sorry to hear sandbags are on their way to you Surrey. I don't go anywhere else either. Video and camera charge just in case a bit of the old white stuff graces us with it's presence!
  11. Hello. Long time no post. Cloudy, cold but the sun is poking through the clouds. And there are some heavy clouds!!
  12. Just had a small storm cell overhead. Was in the garden when an SqueezeyJet diverted over our house to avoid the cell. As it did a very yellow strike of lightning occurred. The resultant thunder was just a loud crack, no echoes. OH said it sounded like it hit the aircraft and thus the plane absorbed the noise. I saw the strike and it was directly in line with the plane. It was the weirdest noise either of us ever heard. Then we had a 5 minute hailstorm.
  13. Really quiet here now odd bluster bit but nothing I would be concerned about. Have to agree with AS re: Ian Carrie in the Surrey Mirror. OH has followed him for years. He's a wise Weather Dog!
  14. Sorry can't link from my phone. Last time I looked it didn't even have us in the yellow zone here.
  15. Met office seems to have downgraded us here and wonder if the wind will increase here today?
  16. Happy Anniversary JP. Just checked my join date - 9 years on 23rd this month, but no way as active a poster as you! Wind very strong and cold on doggy walk but remained dry but getting VERY dark and raining now. Stay safe everyone.
  17. Mornin' all. Tad gusty last night but nothing to write home about. This morning is sunny cloudsimilar to AS. On a less cheery note; now it seems where roofers keep failing to fix the water leaks, there is now damp on the lounge wall and possibly the office too. I don't moan much but now very tired of this persistent rain. I do moan about heat as I have a thyroid condition which makes anything over about 24 degrees C uncomfortable. BUT rain, rain go away for a few weeks please. Sorry rant over :-(
  18. One of ours here has done too. Don't understand it to be honest.Charlwood is gettin' blowy It ain't at all snowy. It's muddy and wetAnd that's all you'll get......here!Night all
  19. Nate needs to protect his gate. Mike needs to take care of his bike. Len needs to batter down hatches for his hens. In other news; Charlwood is getting an increasingly strong breeze with the odd stronger gust. Precipitation is light but continuous.
