  1. Nottingham now getting absolutely hammered, another cm in under 10mins, and its all heading our way.... fantastic.
  2. Thats exactly what I quoted a while ago, it looks really strange, as if you stepped on it, you would have zero grip?!
  3. The reds/oranges are in a line from birmingham, through Sheffield and up through York.
  4. "getting much heavier now" He says that there is currently about 3cms laying and that is after approximately 3hrs of continual snow.
  5. I'm watching the NW radar, the stuff to our west looks huge, I wouldn't worry, well, not yet anyway!
  6. My son is at Nottingham Trent uni, he is keeping me updated by text every 10mins or so, I will pass on his updates.
  7. I think it's a defensive mechanism, some just hate the thought of expecting and then not receiving! I'll gladly join your party..... Just to add, the snow here is falling very fast, very small flakes but very fast, the snow on the road has a beautiful glittering, sheen' to it. Just gonna have me dinner, then going for a nice long walk.
  8. Here we go..... again! Did you not read TEITS post earlier? He said that the sw of our region was in for the best shot, don't get so hung up!!
  9. Just drove back from Deeping (13 miles north of where I am) and as TEITS confirmed earlier it was/is definitely thicker up there with around 8cm, on the drive home with the car temp showing -2c I was behind a car doing 12miles an hour!! Seriously you'd think if you are THAT unsure of driving on icy roads, stay at home! In saying that, the roads are bad out there so for any Peterborians driving tonight, take care.
  10. I was a postman in Streatham, South west London at the time, I remember that December as an absolute nightmare. A bus that was stuck in Streatham High Rd for at least 12 hours, I presume because of frozen diesel rather than the snow depth. Colleagues breaking limbs after days and nights of snow, frost, snow, frost etc When out delivering, spending more time on my backside than on my feet! I also remember walking back from Green Lane in Norbury past Streatham Common with the most incredible wind chill I have ever felt in my life. When I finally managed to get back to the sorting office some 30-40 minutes later, a colleague looked at me, burst out laughing and exclaimed, "what is up with your face"? I immediately ran up to the changing rooms, looked in a mirror and the right hand side of my face had a sort of white frozen frosty look to it, yet the left hand side was bright red! I think I was actually frozen!! As much as I love the cold and snow, I am really not sure whether I would like to experience that again.
  11. I agree! Rob is the best of the lot and has been for a while. If they should dump anybody "to the back room" it should be Liam "middle of the day" Dutton and STOP POINTING AT ME!!! Dan Corbett!! Rant over.
  12. Was in Stamford at about 3.20 when the first signs of sleet appeared, the temp gauge in my van was showing 4.0c, by the time I got home at approx 4.10 it was pouring with small flakes of snow but not settling at all on the very wet surfaces. Interestingly, the temp had plummeted to 0.5c, all in the matter of 20 miles! Has turned back to very light sleet now.
  13. Hi Archie, yeah we got some snow yesterday, not quite a hammering though, I guess by the time it stopped we had approx 2cm's. When I say missing out again, I actually mean that with just a bit more luck? we could have been 'hammered' at least a dozen times this winter! In saying that though, of course I appreciate that we have been much 'luckier' than some.
  14. And yet again, it looks like we are just about to miss out!! Like MrsF says, a sugar dusting which almost melted itself as it fell, heres hope to the rest of the week.
  15. Funny, what 12 miles to your north and it is all laying, I guess about an inch and a bit at the mo'. I do agree though on your second statement but how close have we been on so many occasions?!
  16. Do you mean the '47'? If yes, then then that is about 4-5 miles north of where I am but by looking at the radar it is getting pasting like we have had for the last couple of hours. Will be driving to Spalding (about 20 miles to the north and east) at about 10 to pick up my daughter, i'm not sure whether I am looking forward to the drive or not!
  17. An update on how the snow fell this morning in Hampton Peterborough just over the road from MrsF, ... 5.45am frosty and cloudy but no rain or precipitation of any kind over night. Re awoke at 7 to a good dusting but snow had stopped. Started again at approx 7.15ish and hasn't stopped since, along the way some massive flakes possibly the biggest I have seen since the 80's. Wonderful stuff. Been lurking forever, about time I posted! BTW, TEITS you are the man!!
