  1. My first job from school was a postie in south london. The winter of 81 had a couple of severe moments and no, we never stopped! Might be different now though...
  2. As I said earlier Hughsey, we may get snow that will not be forecasted. I think every bbc forecast I have seen over the last 2 days shows the band 'to-ing and fro-ing' over and around our area. I reckon mid to late afternoon may be our best bet. Just re-read your post, the first band will be here early hours.
  3. At least the cold has arrived, we should not get to hung up on specifics even at this short range. If we have learnt anything from the modern age of being able to watch the models, we know that precipitation can pop up at anytime from anywhere. I guarantee that before the next 7 days is over, at some point at least some of us will see snow that was not forecasted. Agree?
  4. Yep, I can confirm that I am also seeing my first snow of the winter, albeit very very light. Edit. The sun has just peeked through! Strange...
  5. Why bother using the ignore feature when others keep quoting irrelevant/annoying posts! Don't bother quoting, just ignore.
  6. Feeling positively balmy out there at the mo', temp now only -9.9!
  7. The last time I checked last night at 10ish we had just under the 3cms on the trusty old garden table, this morning, just over 5, so, all in all a good night.
  8. I second that, along with GP, Chio and SM I think he is the most reasoned and honest forecaster on the site.
  9. As heavy as it is falling, the manhole covers that were starting to get covered are now clearing and just look wet, I think that even with the heaviness and the potential length of this snowfall, we may not get any decent depths. Hope i'm miserably wrong though. Just realised, after being a member since Feb 2005, i've just reached my 100th post!
  10. Currently heaviest its been, flakes about 20p size, a really good covering now. At MrsF16, can you plan to move house more often please!!
  11. Absolutely pouring now, all surfaces covered. Get in....
  12. Looks as though the heaviest of the ppn is 'funneling' through the wash and heading straight for us! I agree with TEITS, potentially as much as 2010 and definitely more than the whole of 2011!
  13. Still as snow here Feno, I live up by the parkway by the footbridge?
  14. Not a clue, I have a couple of good friends that live on the same estate that it is based on and one of them thinks it maybe a crazy old guy that lives a couple of doors down from him, he says that there is all types of strange equipment in his back garden, I'll have to go and check sometime
  15. At the closest weather station i am aware of, the temp is showing as 1.6 and falling, with a dew point of 1.3 and falling, perhaps any showers later could be more favourable? Edit: Mrsf beat me to it!
  16. Whereabouts in Peterborough are you? I think that this shows how marginal things are, definitely rain here.
  17. Thats amazing Mrsf, if I remember rightly, u are somewhere in Orton? If so, I doubt that you are no more than a mile from me (as the crow flies that is) It is absolutely pouring here.
  18. 11cms here with a max 'corner of the garden' drift of 28cms.
  19. My garden table is measuring bang on 11cms, very satisfied. Especially after the ridiculously close near misses in Dec 10 and the complete lack of anything in the whole of 2011.
  20. Just been for an hours long walk, the biggest drift I saw must have been just about 10-11 inches. Now back at home and have measured the laying snow on my garden table, 87mm, best here since Feb 2009.
  21. Yep, just noticed this on the latest Nw radar update, definitely seems to be fragmenting? If The Eye is reading, can he enlighten us?
  22. Just been out in the garden, the snow is as crunchy underfoot as I can ever remember. Me thinks that tomorrow may bring an interesting drive to work?
  23. I think that that is a definite possibility, absolutely definitely if it does stall over us.
