Observations Of Nature Through The Seasons.
RebsAbbo replied to Jane Louise's topic in Space, Science & nature
The frogs have been very vocal the last couple of days & on inspection of the pond, I have frog spawn! A bit early I fear as frosts are still possible . @Beverley Lassthe duck weed is voracious & often needs ‘culling’ but it’s so effective at oxygenating the pond. -
Today has been lovely, blue skies & plenty of sun, breezy but nothing untoward - a great day for gardening. A first of the season - sun has been warm enough for the patio doors to be open all day! Too tired last night to post, but this was yesterday’s band of raincloud that sat across E. Yorks around teatime…

Spring is definitely trying to show its face today, a lovely bright morning with blue skies & sunshine. At 11c and a southerly breeze it was too warm for wearing coats on my walk, just down to a long sleeved t-shirt . Loads of wildlife having an outing making the most of the sunshine: Bees & Brimstone butterflies in the garden; redwing, yellow hammers, chaffinches, skylarks, plovers, pheasants & a hare all out in the fields.

Some amazing cloud structures sitting along the coast on my journey home….thought it might just be out at sea but as I’ve arrived home now the skies are stormy and graupel shower started. Radar shows this band further north above Scarb but we seem to sitting right under it in reality clouds in the distance sitting off Bridlington Bay and as I got closer to the coast….

Topic - moan As you would expect during an event like this, my boiler blocked/was failing to ignite last night so no heating! Nothing to do with how it operates in the cold I’m sure, just sheer Sod’s Law (I swear it’s computer knows exactly when it snows or when it’s Christmas). Rang through to maintenance company who are based in Barnsley….guess what? Can’t get any engineers out of West Yorkshire at all today because of the heavy snow! However, told to light the burner manually with firelighters - amazing the tricks of the trade when need be! Up and running now
