  1. The frogs have been very vocal the last couple of days & on inspection of the pond, I have frog spawn! A bit early I fear as frosts are still possible . @Beverley Lassthe duck weed is voracious & often needs ‘culling’ but it’s so effective at oxygenating the pond.
  2. Today has been lovely, blue skies & plenty of sun, breezy but nothing untoward - a great day for gardening. A first of the season - sun has been warm enough for the patio doors to be open all day! Too tired last night to post, but this was yesterday’s band of raincloud that sat across E. Yorks around teatime…
  3. typical! Still, it’ll be muddy again by tomorrow I’m loving my ‘sand’ coloured car now…..mud tones down the oompa lumpa shade
  4. Loving the cloudscapes again today… A few odd spots of rain this afternoon, but otherwise a beautiful day on the wolds. Topped at 18c in Scarborough & still 16c now at 4.30pm. A much brighter day than was on the cloudy forecast
  5. Out in sunny Scarbados & car is registering 18c!!! Not dressed for this weather
  6. Spring is here today …..of course it may not be tomorrow , but I’ll take the mild 11c & sunshine today thanks.
  7. Spring is definitely trying to show its face today, a lovely bright morning with blue skies & sunshine. At 11c and a southerly breeze it was too warm for wearing coats on my walk, just down to a long sleeved t-shirt . Loads of wildlife having an outing making the most of the sunshine: Bees & Brimstone butterflies in the garden; redwing, yellow hammers, chaffinches, skylarks, plovers, pheasants & a hare all out in the fields.
  8. Some amazing cloud structures sitting along the coast on my journey home….thought it might just be out at sea but as I’ve arrived home now the skies are stormy and graupel shower started. Radar shows this band further north above Scarb but we seem to sitting right under it in reality clouds in the distance sitting off Bridlington Bay and as I got closer to the coast….
  9. A lovely spring like day here! Nothing of the yellow warning for snow & ice. A lot of rain last night so did expect the ice risk this morning, but not even a frost! Sunshine & quite still making the 3c feel pleasant enough in the sun (overnight low was 2c).
  10. An early morning surprise waking up to quite a torrential downpour being hammered against the windows by the wind. Now a very blustery day on the wolds, with grey skies & a few light showers. Mild at 10c.
  11. Forecast has light rain here since 5pm & sleet for the next couple of hours. Radar showing pale blue over us & all the heavier stuff over WYorks looks to dissipating before reaching us. On the ground we are dry as a bone with little sign of changing…..
  12. Garden equipment recorded -3.5c overnight…..nearest official station only recorded -2.7c . Still cold! After the frost the sun is shining & most lingering snow (& frost) is now gone from the garden. 6c now & a lovely day on the wolds
  13. Topic - moan As you would expect during an event like this, my boiler blocked/was failing to ignite last night so no heating! Nothing to do with how it operates in the cold I’m sure, just sheer Sod’s Law (I swear it’s computer knows exactly when it snows or when it’s Christmas). Rang through to maintenance company who are based in Barnsley….guess what? Can’t get any engineers out of West Yorkshire at all today because of the heavy snow! However, told to light the burner manually with firelighters - amazing the tricks of the trade when need be! Up and running now
  14. Nothing of note here. Had chunky snow showers on & off throughout afternoon but nothing laid at all. A very underwhelming afternoon .
  15. A light covering up on higher ground here but in the village the roads are absolutely fine, just very wet. It has been gently snowing on & off all morning, but as we all know, it’s this afternoon that’s the real watch….will it stay wet? Time will tell.
  16. ….pride….fall…hedges…ditches….now what is that well known phrase Anyway, didn’t you get snow in 1963? And you’re asking for more? That’s just sheer greed… Night all
  17. And what with another MAD thread set up today….just don’t know where to look!! I’m sure this event is even crazier than December’s….
  18. Just been ‘over the top’….snow had fallen early evening & covered the road. Returning later this evening & snow has actually stayed. It’s not extensive & once in villages it’s all clear - just a few surprise ‘pockets’ in the area. Not much expected overnight so should be ok in the morning
  19. Very light snow falling for here the last hour, which has had no impact whatsoever. Now getting more steady & low visibility but still think it’s just teasing
