  1. Mine worked fine. Phone, watch & Bluetooth to car stereo all went off at 3pm on the dot.
  2. Just seen my first swallow fly over the garden . Had reports of a swallow over Thixendale way & a housemartin towards the coast about a week ago. So happy they are returning, fills me with hope for the summer
  3. Have you got a clear sky? Just got drizzly raincloud cover over our way.
  4. It’s beautifully clear out there tonight & surprisingly not cold. Venus is incredibly bright, sitting quite low in the sky, in a WNW direction
  5. Cos I can’t add photos/video to DMs….sorry for the personal reference… @Wold Topper Hhheeeeeerrrreee’s……..Jonny 0D00B6FD-376A-455C-B6F7-AAC04C49E3D5.MOV
  6. Yeah, I think I’m ready to upgrade to something more professional this year . I think it has a greenhouse effect going on too, due to the Perspex cover I added for rain protection
  7. It’s lovely out there, short sleeves weather when working in it. Grass has just had its first long cut of the year….blackbirds are having a field day! Think I need some new monitoring equipment - clearly this is wishful thinking on its part ….it’s more 12c as you say @Beverley Lass. TBF I haven’t been resetting it either so maybe just a recalibration needed
  8. After the deluge & wind of last night, surprisingly pleasant this morning - a classic wolds weather day, sunshine & strong, but cold breeze. Escaping the wilder weather over on the west at the mo . Was 7.5c at start of walk, now 9c. Amazed to see the rapid growth of crops in the fields since my last walk up there just over a week ago. The rape has doubled in size & is starting to flower. So happy to be back in my beautiful Yorkshire
  9. Jeez, hasn’t stopped all night & it’s hail now…if it gets any harder it’s gonna come through the windows!! could we say that in unison again!
  10. The rain maybe lasted a minute & was just a slight inconvenience, barely noticeable before it was gone.
  11. Are you in training for worlds strongest man this year? You must have enough wood for the apocalypse? Always the Yorkshireman eh
  12. Hurghada! Makadi Bay, down the coast. Yes, the hotel staff did joke that we’d brought uk weather with us . I know what you mean about no cloud on most days, for someone like me, obsessed with cloudscapes, it was really quite monotonous (in the most positive sense ). You wouldn’t believe how excited I was when the thunderstorm was forecast. I sat out in it watching & waiting…there was even some drops of rain, which were quite large drops & surprisingly cool. Again, I was the mad one sat in it, quite refreshing after 7 days of 27 - 34C. I’ve been to a variety of hot places in my time, from Caribbean to Asia to Australia, but that has been the driest heat I’ve experienced. I really enjoyed the heat on our summer here last yea, reaching 40c. I always wear sunscreen but in Egypt, even as soon as you’ve applied sunscreen you can still feel the sun burning straightaway. A lot of shade was necessary. You can see how easy it is to die in the desert in that heat (which is literally where you are once you leave the hotels). And, as was pointed out to me by a friend who lives over there, it’s only April! Being in summer heat over there, I can’t imagine!! Good luck
  13. Arrived into Newcastle airport at 2am this morning to 6c (from a searing 30c in Egypt - although we had had a thunderstorm yesterday but was nothing to really comment on, a few rumbles as it passed by). Clearly have had some significant rain already in NE as plenty of water on the roads as drove back to Yorkshire throughout the night. A fantastic super large moon low in the sky, to follow home, finally arriving to a pink sunrise at 6am. After a few hours kip I’ve enjoyed a day of sun with some warmth where sheltered….I refused to believe it was cool & convinced myself it was t-shirt & skirt weather as I pottered in the garden. The rain came around teatime and hasn’t stopped since, & a bit blustery. Have accepted the temp change now & have bed socks & slippers on, winter cardi & a blanket ….good ol’ Blighty Yesterday’s thunderclouds rolling over
  14. All depends on where you are….ok I can’t lie, I’m cheating & am in Egypt!! It was hotter on Wed but I was inland. The breeze of the Red Sea is most welcome
  15. Well, hello! Having had nearly a week without t’internet of any description I can finally report the following: Slightly different view for me this week…….don’t get views like this in East Yorkshire Although I’m not impressed with the reports from back home….having left my dogs without their home comforts, minus figures are not what I want to hear, poor boys
  16. A pleasant change of wind warmth today, 14c, mostly cloud but with sun breaking through at times. A nice spring day. Shame I had to make the most of yesterday though for gardening, in the cold & frequent light rain, as today I’m busy with other things … A band of cloud this morning on my walk, with some whisps of clouds aspiring to be twisters?? Trying hard is all I can say
  17. Well, in the interest of fairplay, you’ll all be pleased to know that the Yorkshire Wolds was shrouded in cloud & light to moderate rain all day today, as much of the country was
  18. Yep, thanks for appreciating our weather again, I’m not feeling smug in the least tbh, it’s a pleasant surprise to the bitter coldness I was expecting this morning. In my sun trap the sun feels lovely & warm. Of course, I may be changing my tune in 1/2hr when I’m up on the hill walking the dogs Do ignore the messy garden…I haven’t finished the winter clearing yet!
  19. Funny you should say that, as today has changed from a SWly to a NWly….
  20. This second half of March feels more like a traditional April, with lots of sunshine & ‘April showers’, just cooler. I still think we are very lucky in this area, we seem to be having more than our fair share of the sunshine. Today is another sun & showers day, with perhaps the showers winning out more, but still can’t complain.
  21. And considering it’s a SWly, it’s blooming cold - gave me headache on this morning’s walk!
  22. Dare I say, I think we have the perfect spring weather here at the moment. We have lots of blue skies & sunshine, occasional showers, but mostly the heaviest rain comes during the evenings & nights, allowing daytime hours to be quite productive, especially in the garden. Many apologies to my local weather watchers if I’ve now just jinxed our area
  23. I remember we had to do that, especially when our fish had swim bladder problems! The things we do for our animals
