That station looks really nice. If you don't mind me asking, how much was it for all the gear?

I'm hoping that they'll call school off for you tomorrow morning. Have a chat to your parents about it and see if they think if it's safe or not to go.

Anyone tracking the convection or just me? Looks like Dorset are getting a great show and maybe I might be in for a chance at about 1am. Great thing about no school tomorrow - I can stay up and watch it!!

980mb pressure on my Barometer. Also do people think that those thunderstorms will survive it's way up? Might be interesting to watch

Sorry for my late reply, just had dinner. I use an app called "WeatherandRadar", and they also have a website www.weatherandradar.co.uk They can and do get stuff wrong every now and again, but from my research they seem to get the highest accuracy. Also as a side note i use Accuweather sometimes, but only for their minute-by-minute forecasts. I never trust any other forecast from them though

It's unlikely that it'll last that long - I've found BBC weather forecasts to be very inaccurate since they left the Met Office.

Sounds crazy. Hope your mother is ok too. I don't know how some schools can still be like this in this modern age. Sometimes I think my school is bad, but this is just downright wrong.

Considering you're in Dover - an area that is likely to get hit a lot worse than inland central south - I wouldn't be surprised if they also decide to close. Give it a few hours

We've still got many hours in the evening (and even tomorrow morning) for them to make a decision. I don't mean to get your hopes up too much, but maybe a closure announcement is imminent!!

I wouldn't say I'm in the centre of Fareham, but yes I agree with you. Storm Eunice was particularly nasty, especially for the IOW when they recorded a record-breaking 122mph at The Needles. I don't think we will get up to 90mph, maybe 80 or 85 though.

My school have just made the decision to close tomorrow. I didn't think they would, but looks like they are concerned of the amber warning and some other schools in the area are closing too so that's interesting. It'll be a work-from-home day and I can stay up to watch any significant event! (if it decides to, of course)

I never really tend to track windstorms, but here seems an exception. I'm kind of excited to see what happens. Looks concerning for the channel islands. On windy.com (UKV mostly) seeing gusts up to 100 or 105mph. I'm calling it now - Tomorrow the Met will release an amber warning for the south coast. They tend to hold fire on red warnings, so who knows what will happen then. All depends on tomorrow's observstions, i guess!

Storms and Convective discussion- October 2023
Thunderspotter replied to Supacell's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
Sounds like you are all getting a great show. Wish i was there to see it, but i'm in Suffolk for the week so lets hope I dont miss much. Anyone know of any risk round Manningtree over the next few hours?? All the forecasts say so but i don't believe it.
