  1. Sounds crazy. Hope your mother is ok too. I don't know how some schools can still be like this in this modern age. Sometimes I think my school is bad, but this is just downright wrong.
  2. That's surprising. Hopefully by tomorrow morning they'll change their minds!!
  3. Considering you're in Dover - an area that is likely to get hit a lot worse than inland central south - I wouldn't be surprised if they also decide to close. Give it a few hours
  4. We've still got many hours in the evening (and even tomorrow morning) for them to make a decision. I don't mean to get your hopes up too much, but maybe a closure announcement is imminent!!
  5. I wouldn't say I'm in the centre of Fareham, but yes I agree with you. Storm Eunice was particularly nasty, especially for the IOW when they recorded a record-breaking 122mph at The Needles. I don't think we will get up to 90mph, maybe 80 or 85 though.
  6. From my findings, WeatherBug only tends to be good with its lightning detector. I moved away from them as they seem to generalise the forecast a lot - leading to lower accuracy.
  7. My school have just made the decision to close tomorrow. I didn't think they would, but looks like they are concerned of the amber warning and some other schools in the area are closing too so that's interesting. It'll be a work-from-home day and I can stay up to watch any significant event! (if it decides to, of course)
  8. I never really tend to track windstorms, but here seems an exception. I'm kind of excited to see what happens. Looks concerning for the channel islands. On windy.com (UKV mostly) seeing gusts up to 100 or 105mph. I'm calling it now - Tomorrow the Met will release an amber warning for the south coast. They tend to hold fire on red warnings, so who knows what will happen then. All depends on tomorrow's observstions, i guess!
  9. Sounds like you are all getting a great show. Wish i was there to see it, but i'm in Suffolk for the week so lets hope I dont miss much. Anyone know of any risk round Manningtree over the next few hours?? All the forecasts say so but i don't believe it.
  10. Storm here in Fareham was quite impressive. Loads of bright flashes, some of which had some loud thunderclaps. Sadly it wan't close enough to get amazing footage of it but I think I'm going to make a 2-3min video on youtube about this month's best strikes. Typically, I forgot I was using my 0.6x camera, so the flashes didn't really pop up as well on the video as i had hoped. Note to self: Stick with the main 1x camera. That video was insane! Wish I was there haha
  11. There are still loads of flashes i can see in the distance but it's not worth staying up for anymore, as i cant see any bolts. Overall though, best storm since this time last year. Not the best storm ever but it will do for now. Best of luck to everyone chasing and make the most of it! Cant wait to log on tomorrow and find all the cool shots people have got. Have fun, and night everyone
  12. All the lightning here is way too far away to hear, but wow it's frequent! Best light show in years. Shame i'm now stuck looking at the north, i'm killing to go back to the spare room and watch out there but not woth the risk. Can't wait to see this thread tomorrow afternoon.
  13. Loads of distant lightning here, so glad i stayed up to see it. Got some videos sbd pictures i'll shsre later. Unfortunately I was a bit too loud with movement and parents arent too happy anymore... My room faces north too, so I cant see the new bit coming uo from the south! Typical, but oh well. There will be more oppertunities later. Good luck to everyone! Been an awesome night so far.
  14. Very frequant distant lightning here to my N, SE and occasionally NW.. Faint rumbles too.
  15. Change the live data setting from lightningmaps.org to the other one. It takes a few more seconds, but is much more accurate.
  16. Now I'm faced with a tough decision. I can either stay up and watch the storms roll in (and risk a bust) or head to bed and risk not seeing a thunderstorm. I think I'm going to stay up, I can't miss a storm! Being tired tis tomorrow's problem now.
  17. I think it was trying to play an ad but for some reason it didnt actually pop up on my screen. Still was pretty spooky!
  18. Ok that "My Lightning Tracker" app is fully bugged... It's just started playing boss fight music for no reason while I try and figure out why there are so many false detections!
  19. I think this is what you must of heard. That app has gone crazy!
  20. Is anyone hearing thunder or is this app really broken? I can't hear anything...
  21. Now Havant has lit up and gone boom. Quite a random arrangement, but silently hoping I'm next in line...
  22. Chichester has decided that it hasn't had enough attention today and it's decided to go boom out of nowhere. Interesting.
