It's not so much cold temperatures I'm concerned about with another SSW, it's the perpetual unrelenting dullness. If it resulted in months like April 2021 then I'd be all for it! But looking at recent SSW aftermath, it normal correlates to gloom in Spring and after enduring such a dull and cloudy year, it's the last thing I'd want to see. SSW in my book, stands for Sudden Spring Wrecker.

Agreed, if it falls at the right time to deliver snow in Jan/Feb then I'm all for it but not if it's going to bring a dull spring, that's when I'm seeking the warmth and sunshine

Yes, fantastic shot.  Much better than my poor iPhone shots in Chirk this morning

In all honesty the first 4 photos were absolute c**p that I took, I happened to get a lucky break just as I was leaving to do the school run. Also have to thank the great camera quality of the Samsung S21 😄

I'm 5ft 6 inches and 11 and half stone, aiming for 11 stone,  I'm slim/very toned but curvy, you make me feel fat ha ha I used to be 9 and half stone in my early 20's but it was too slim.  Get some meat on you girl, I feel the cold like you but maybe not as bad.

    Should've mentioned I'm only 5ft 3 maybe 4 😁

I was chilly on school run in just trousers and socks. Will add tights tomorrow. I'm a tiny 7 stone thing though 🙂

Phew, I'm still in my shorts and vest top even in the rain but then again I'm bordering on 13st though 😁

    Warm

just been chilling in the garden when I was visited by a rather large hornet. I ran of course and it chased me and flew into my leg.

Probably not going outside again now tbf

Oh bless you 🙁 I've been having to get wasps out of my bathroom the past few mornings upon waking up, makes for a fun game at 6am when your just about to get in the shower.

5th consecutive day of 30°C for London, in September!

And I wouldn't be so confident in saying Sunday/Monday will be the last of the hot weather this year. This hurricane season seems quite active and we shouldn't rule out the possibility of the same weather pattern returning throughout September and October. 2023 is a strange year and may have more tricks up its sleeve. Perhaps >30°C in October?

Can't remember which year it was (possibly 2017) Hurricane Orphelia brought that unusually warm day in October along with the apocalyptic orange sky and red sun, remember that very well and is proof not to underestimate the weather Hurricanes can bring to our shores.

Yes, there was a slight improvement in mid August, but it was still only a handful of days. There were still cool and dull mornings in the last week, after the southeast were hit by thunderstorms on the 26th. Granted, I did enjoy that storm.

    Mine aren’t wrong.

It has nothing to do with people’s perceptions, if what they witness was actually true. I felt cold and it was mostly crappy cloudy weather.

Exactly this, because the statistics say the summer was around average doesn't mean that personally it may feel that. Everybody has a different perception of what it feels like and like myself I wouldn't say it felt summer like at all and a handful of days the end of August doesn't cut it for me.

Not sure what would be worse; a freezing cold poor insulated house/flat or the gigantic spiders. 😱

They were pretty scary, it didn't help that I was terrified of the things at the time and I always knew when one was creeping round as my husband would slowly get up off the sofa and grab one of the many homemade spider catcher pots we had dotted all over the place and try and catch it without me knowing. Funnily enough I no longer have a fear of them so I suppose it was some form of exposure therapy 😄

We didn't have central heating until autumn 2010, which happened to be just in time for that exceptionally cold December, and nowadays I'd struggle to live without it. My house is around 100 years old and the only insulation it has is double glazing and loft insulation, so does get cold quickly during the winter. In really cold spells, the living room can go down to around 10 Celsius.

As for double glazing, we didn't have the house fully double glazed until 2022.

My last flat was exactly the same, 100yr+ old building poorly maintained by the criminal of a landlord who owned it, moved in May 2010 and during the freezing dec of 2010 it got down to 5c in there 🥶 we had rotting single glazed windows that would freeze over on the inside and insulation was non existent. I remember spending xmas and new year with the in laws as it was unbearable so I definitely feel your pain, not to mention the sizes of the spiders that lived there rent free, the things could've had saddles on their backs they were that large 😬

What has amazed me this year is the we have only one dry spell of over 5 days. All year! You have to go back to early June and late May when we had over 5 days dry. We seem to get 2 maybe 3 days dry then showers or longer spells of rain. Continually. Can remember when you get a high sat over us for at least a week and be nice during the summer. I hope autumn bucks the trend this year.

In regards to heat definitely not, i prefer that in the core summer months when you reap the most benefit from it but if your referring to mellow autumnal days with plenty of sunshine and the misty mornings and plenty of dry weather to cancel out this stinker of a summer then I definitely agree.

Hope you get better soon 🙂. Can't be pleasant those symptoms/side effects.

Not to go into too much detail but I take methotrexate for my RA, so definitely a long term medication. I find wearing shorts and t-shirts during the warmer months helps to keep the hot sweats at bay.

A pleasant cooler summer day here. Plenty of sun. Lawn mown and people out in their gardens.

    Amazing!

Well, actually they don’t as I can attest to someone walking straight into me yesterday while I was shopping.

Same round here except they walk into piles of dog s*** and spread it all over the path for the rest of us to have to dodge. bleurgh 🤮
