Hope you get better soon 🙂. Can't be pleasant those symptoms/side effects.

Not to go into too much detail but I take methotrexate for my RA, so definitely a long term medication. I find wearing shorts and t-shirts during the warmer months helps to keep the hot sweats at bay.

A pleasant cooler summer day here. Plenty of sun. Lawn mown and people out in their gardens.

    Amazing!

Well, actually they don’t as I can attest to someone walking straight into me yesterday while I was shopping.

Same round here except they walk into piles of dog s*** and spread it all over the path for the rest of us to have to dodge. bleurgh 🤮

2005 was decent and 2009 was the best out of those very poor summers near the end of the decade. But 09 suffered from a poor July, but we did get quite a few thundery periods.

Winters became better for a time, but I don’t like losing our summers to achieve snowy winter periods.

I'm one for a good winter too so I did enjoy the snowy period during them years. I personally thought there seemed a decline in thundery weather but that may be down to a imby view, the s/e did seem to benefit well from good thundery periods.

A very memorable summer for me as that is when I left primary school. I remember falling asleep in my back garden on a hot summer's evening that year. I also remember having a day out at Drayton Manor that summer and getting soaked on the Stormforce 10.

    Ah memories. 🙂

I was in my second to last year of secondary school that year, I always remember having a 12ft pool in the front garden and spending endless days in it, probably one of the first iconic summers i can remember alongside the great summer of 95.

    I prefer hot summers and grew up during the 80s, because I remembered 83,84 and 89 a lot more. I hated 85, 86, 87 and 88.

Yes, all those poor summers had good weather at times, but I don’t want ‘typical British summers’ to be the norm.

I would gladly take a summer like 1983, 84, 89, 90, 95, 2018 or 22 every year over the rubbish we usually get.

    You've missed out 2003, epic summer 😊

If I have a chicken and you have no chicken, we both have half a chicken, according to statistics. Still leaves you sans chicken though. A month of July in which I am tempted to turn on the heating and when it rains almost every day is NOT  a decent month of July, stats or no stats.

Ain't gonna last. Rain from 18:00, apparently.

Already starting to see signs of a change here from the s/w 😭

Nope it's people moaning about sleeping in temperary accommodation because of fires, as far as I'm concerned, even worse than people moaning about temps. As if they can stay somewhere a wild fire is heading for.

Just shows how selfish society can be sometimes 😠

Indeed, ‘stuck’ patterns outstay their welcome in the end. That’s definitely the case for the grim conditions here and I bet in Greece too

We can only hope and pray that change is on the horizon 🙏 I for one hope that August is that change.

  10. I'm one who is a lover and enjoy the heat but can't help but feel thankful for being on the cooler side of the jet stream at the moment (please don't flame me for saying this.) Can't help but feel sorry for all the locals and animals in Rhodes at the moment escaping the wildfires due to the intense heat, homes being burnt down, all the while twitter is full of tourists complaining about displacement and having to spend a night in a sports hall knowing they will soon return to safety and their homes (I'm in no way shaming anyone.) Can only hope this stuck pattern soon budges to not only give us in the UK something summery to enjoy but relief to the countries burning away. Greece holds a special place in my heart and my thoughts go out to them.

Stop making feel old lol! 🤣

First half of June 2004 was indeed very warm, but then turned much cooler after mid month, which continued through much of July, before becoming much warmer, albeit very wet for August.

    Sorry, my bad 😁

  12. Remember it quite well as June 2004 I was taking my GCSE's, remember it being very warm almost hot at times and agree on it at that point feeling like a repeat of 2003. Also notable as one of the most thundery summers with plenty of thunder days and nights, not long after was when I would say I started to notice a decline in thunder days.

We've had some good ones in the West Midlands this year...although in a general sense, I agree, it does feel as though there's a general decline. I haven't looked at any hard data, just a perception.

Agreed and I can't remember the last time we had a good overnight storm, definitely think their declining. Its got to be back in the 90s/early 00s when you were guaranteed a good night storm or that could be me fondly looking back with rose tinted specs.

Reading through some of the posts in this thread and have to agree with those saying that a disagree reaction isn't needed and can cause more conflict. I think that is the majority as well who is saying that but a poll would be helpful to back that up.

I think that if you disagree with a post, instead of just solely reacting to it and not knowing who has done it, would be best to reply to say why you disagree, in a civil manner of course. It just helps keep the conversation going, the basis for forums like these to stay active, plus something new can be learnt and keep healthy debates going rather than increasing unnecessary arguments.

With just one button to disagree removes that aspect and to me it doesn't feel as suitable. We are built to question and/or disagree with different opinions and to explain the reasoning. If you disagree with something just reply and explain why...

P.s on a more positive note to consider is maybe a laugh reaction as some posts are funny and don't think a heart reaction is as suitable. Not expecting that to be implemented but a consideration would maybe be appreciated.

Second that on a laugh button, there are some genuinely funny posts on here and rather than bogging up the thread quoting a post with a laugh emoji you can react to it

Is it me or aren't there as many moths around at the moment? There's normally heaps of them at this time of the year, but I've seen hardly any. Not complaining though as I hate them.

I can second you there, normally my bathroom gets inundated with them, something about the led light they love it, but hardly seen any.
