The Met office have been saying for 4/5 days.
Friday 21 Apr - Sunday 30 Apr
Most places staying settled and dry with sunny spells, the best of these to the north and west. Becoming cloudier through Friday and into the weekend, with a chance of showers, most likely towards the southeast although detail is uncertain. Most areas feeling reasonable in shelter and sunshine, though eastern coasts are likely to feel cooler in fresh easterly winds. High pressure is likely to remain centred to the north or northeast of the UK through late-April, leading to a fair amount of fine and dry weather persisting, although the chance of showers, mainly in the south, remains. Temperatures likely rather warm to warm towards the end of the month, especially in the west and northwest. Some eastern coasts may stay cooler, and perhaps locally chilly overnight in sheltered parts.

"Rather warm to warm".. I wonder how long before they change forecast again? another week?
I noticed that, strange that this has not been updated.

I usually really enjoy the 17/18/19c's at this time of the year, nowhere close down here so far.

You called 7.0C quite a few days ago to be fair to you Don.
I was on 6.9c and thought I would end up a degrees or two short, but I got increasingly concerned that we could hit 7c or even 7.1c, and I could end up too low, kept thinking, surely not!..... Funny old game this.

One of the few very lucky ones then!...I've seen one or two wet snowflakes all winter, I remember the days when the east coast use to be the place to be for good snowfall, not anymore.
Yes that's true, for many years the east of the country was a good place for snowfall, a lack of cold easterlies and persistent Scandi highs in Winter months is the problem, they usually turn up outside of Winter months these days.

Might be the St Georges mushroom that grows in Spring, usually April and can grow in large patches so usually once you find one there will be more in that area, but needs rain and mild damp weather so not around every year and by May it's growing season will be just about over, edible and prized in places like Italy. Not saying you should eat it, but I used to go foraging for this fungi years ago, I would suggest you do a google search to identify it.

I noticed 49mph max recorded near here, big waves for most of the afternoon, anyway it's calmed down now at last.

Yesterday evening was a small line of intense rain and wind that ran along the SE coast and inland areas, It started from around Brighton, moving eastwards.
The radar showed this most clearly (bright red colours) in a line running NE and just east of Hastings and Tenterden around 9.30/10pm, no thunder or lightning was reported as far as I am aware.

Just had some very heavy rain here from this front, only thing missing was the lighting, which I half expected to happen. It seemed like a squall.
Think it was a squall line, came through here too, was also very windy for a while.

My word, at this rate we could be at 6c by tomorrow, after a mild night already 11-15c widely I noticed at 1pm.

It will liven up when the first warm spell arrives, convective and thunderstorms. It isn't just the cold people post here for.
I was thinking that, getting exciting now as we look forward to the first warm spells and some light shows.

Nice! even on the coast absolutely diabolical here on the Essex Riviera, heavy rain (for 48 hours on/off) with just the odd wet snowflake an hour ago thrown in. This SSW 2023 will be the one of the 'great soak'.
The irony is that you have probably missed out by only a few miles, I noticed that the heavy PPN and snow was running north of you, from around Ipswich to Norwich.

Looks like PPN is intensifying on the radar around Suffolk, must be some pretty heavy snow around up that way close to Ipswich.

Can we have another se thread which allows major tirades with the swear filter removed !
The main precip band is moving east and without any se movement apart from a few scraps areas south of London look like having another disappointment.
Yes, I have been keeping an eye for any shift SE, having none of it. Another disappointment, just had lots and lots of RAIN!

Deliberating on Bexhill's chances here... is it a 3am alarm job, or a lie in and have dreams of proper snow job? Time will tell...
50/50? Is that too much, I'm still hoping for a Bexhill snow party, might get up early and if it's just rain/sleet go for a hunt up one of them hills!

Just drizzle here, oh well, was expected, good luck to you all further inland!

If I was in East Anglia I'd be keeping my eye on that nice clump of showers moving down the North sea, catch one of them and you should get a covering pretty fast.
This muck over the SE is now starting to get on my nerves, it needs to clear and let that colder air south, temps to drop further this evening if we want the PPN moving in to turn to snow.

If you’re short sighted (like me) take your glasses off before looking out the window. It’s amazing, 50p size flakes all the way.
Really, in Hailsham?

As a late 80s / early 90s kid in medway, snow back then was amazing. Curtain twitching through the night and getting told to go to sleep by the parents. Woke up at 6am once after a really thick knee deep snowfall! Running up the garden and up the road, saw the pure whiteout in the distance and ran back scared I'd be unable to find my way home. Weirdly I don't remember the 1987 snow event!! But I would've been about 4 so...
Them were the good old days.

If against all odds we do get an appreciable covering, we should have a 30 minute celebration before it rapidly melts haha!
I think we should have a party if it snows and settles in Bexhill!
