  1. When we have PALM TREES, growing in our little island… then that tells you we live on the MILD SIDE!! but we do get some good, very good, xcellent… even EPIC WINTERS!! like wws mentioned the other day… and myself said the other day, you need to look to past… to see what will, what does happen in future!! History shows there are many winters that were mild… and many that were cold!! I mentioned earlier there was many mild winters in 30 plus years, dotted with snowy/cold winters… there have been, there are and no doubt future will be mild but I think we have entered a cold period since 2007 and future winters will be cold/snow, very cold/snowy, extremely cold/snowy… only time will tell but as for ' GLOBAL WARMING '… no, not convinced… didn't hitler ask his xperts about the chances of a mild russian winters and they said yes, lol… it never happened!! Also a few yrs ago, a relative of mine who lives in good ole U. S of A… said the yanks were doin tests in alaska, as he said messing around with weather?? So who knows… if its true, it wouldn't surprise me in least… alot to answer for then yanks
  2. There was a run of least 25/30yrs… were there was ALOT OF MILD WINTERS, compared to SNOW n COLD!! mid 80s onwards
  3. The pics FH posted, superb… my dad told me about winters past, were they had to deliver coal, milk etc thru the bedroom window lol… and the roads blocked going up grains road to delph, denshaw etc… it will happen again!! Just might not be in life time
  4. Don't understand the ' global warming ' thinking… thing of the past etc… there was a 25yr plus pattern, were we hardly had any SNOW… yet since 2007 we've had more on the trot, excluding the last few yrs… than I can remember!! The pattern as changed and it'll change again, that there is no doubt!! Before 2007, I remember some scientist, saying snow could be a thing of the past?? What an idiot… even a relative of mine moved to a part of shaw oldham that's at the foot of the pennines… which is at high level and I mentioned they'd pay for it, when it SNOWED?? he said we don't get like snow/winters like we used too… lmao… its patterns, not global warming peeps… haven't the far east just had some of the snowiest/coldest weather in over 50/60yrs… if I've had to wait that long, then I'm worried… just a thought
  5. Hi… long, long, long time lurker, reader of this great site I don't pretend to know anything like the XPERTS on here, whose posts i like reading and are very informative to a beginner like me… but the weather will change at the drop of a hat… what the charts show say 2day… won't be the same in 2/3days time… could be better COLD/COLDER/VERY COLD or worse MILD/ATLANTIC TRAIN… anyway just had to say, so I could post lol Ps… keep up the XCELLENT POSTS, ste murr, polar maritime, nick sussex, frosty, BFTP
  6. Long, long, long time lurker and reader of this great site and forum… but I feel I had to say summat about ' GLOBAL WARMING '… I agree with WWS, you have to look to the past to see what MIGHT now or the future?? If you look through history, many many patterns the same but with many cold and snow ones also… From the mid 80s to the mid 07, many many mild, wet, stormy weather with hardly any cold or snow… instead of real cold and SNOW!! What I'd love to see and a epic 47 or 63!! and as my name suggests, I'm a great believer in law of averages… in the 1970s, a prof/dr john hansen of NASA… proclaimed ' GLOBAL COOLING ' within 10/15yrs… he flipped too ' GLOBAL WARMING '??… the MET OFFICE are the same, there's no really evidence… just look in the good ole U.S of A or the FAR EAST, is that global warming?? if so I'd take that lol… and NO ONE can convince me that 1976 wasn't the hottest and longest period I've known… April till september, even october if I'm right but I was only a 11… at the time
