Great levels of snow up there! Think NE Scotland & NE England have done really well out of this cold spell

Big thunderstorm here at present, rolling across the Peak District, but can see blue skies coming hopefully this way!!! Temp 9.2oC, feels cold & damp

12oC and not a glimmer of sunshine, been like this since 1st week in July! Flooding yesterday & heavy rain today...roll on winter! lol I wouldnt mind, but I get irritated when I see southern areas having pleasant weather on the tv all the time..grrrrrrrrr

Well nice start, but for the past 5 weeks, we've seen no sunshine in this part of the country, so its gotta be a 4/10! No sign of any improvement either from what I can gather. It bugs me to see those housemates sunbathing in the Big Brother house all the time, when its so cloudy here! lol

Got a few cms of snow lying this am, which was a surprise after the heavy rain, but the beeb did say it was sticky snow! Love to see some of the deep stuff in Scotland/ Ireland...any pics please?

Quite surprised there are all these red warnings about, the Met Office has stuck its head on the chopping block again! Doesnt seem to be any excessive snow about at the moment, just a covering over the usual parts of the Higlands & high ground in Aberdeenshire. If the rain does turn to snow later, Northern Ireland, aswell as Scotland, looks like having a pasting, but it could be a marginal event for some, especially with already saturated ground from all the rain. Temps up to a crazy 10oC here this afternoon, so the daffodils are happy here ;o)

Was really excited about this cold spell few days ago, but now appears that it may only affect Southern Scotland, the far North of England & Northern Ireland. Weds looks like the best prospect for wintry stuff here. Currently cold rain...temp 4.4oC

Glorious sunshine here all day, although it was -6oC when I woke up at 7am!

Snowing here at present, temp 1.7oC. Also had some lying snow on Fri & same when I crossed over Shap Fell & some higher parts of The Lake District

Looking promising for some more snow later on. Temp currently 1.3oC (at 12:00)and still a lot of lying snow, so it should settle readily ;o)

Another couple of cm fell overnight, fog was horrific this am, has caused major problems on M62, believe it was closed due to several accidents around junc 22, but now lifting as we appraoch lunchtime. Temp is currently 0.9oC. Pic taken about an hour ago 11:20 - the sun is begining to poke through with some patches of clear blue skies ;o)

Grey & murky here, a few small flakes of snow in the wind, temp 1oC. Still nice snow cover where I live, snow level seem to be about 250m asl

Snowing here at present, got a few cm covering if you're lucky to be in an elevated spot like up on the pennines, but in Oldham town centre there is zilch. Just taken a pic of now, its 0.2oC

Was still awake last night when the heavy rain turned to hail, then massive flakes of snow, which stuck readily to roads. Was surprised to find a decent covering this am. Just taken some pics at 10:30 & its currently 1.5oC

Approx 5cm of snow overnight which followed on from heavy rain about 1am, flakes were pretty large & began to stick to the ground, which was pretty saturated, so not bad going.

Light covering of graupel/ snow grains this am. Currently overcast temp 0oC

light to moderate snow falling here at present, temp 1oC & its sticking to roads & grass. Expecting it to be a whiteout if this continues for a few hours ;o)

So it begins! Moderate snow setting in now, ground turning white & temp fallen to 1oC....looking promising for a good few cm & just in time for the rush hour! Also had covering of snow yesterday evening on back edge of rain belt

1st snowflakes falling here now.......temp dipped to 1.3oC, so looking promising for later when the heavier stuff moves in ;o)

Had some snowfall last night on back edge of rainbelt, gave a slight dusting of snow which is still clinging onto grassy surfaces at present. Was colder than I expected last night (-3.8oC when I went to bed) Still pretty cold, but temp has risen to 1.7oC at present. Hope it stays cold enough for snow, that band of precipitation seems pretty heavy on met office radar & slow moving.....i'll keep you posted
