  1. What is it with you northerners anyway? I used to like Yorkshire people and other northerners. please don't make me change my mind.
  2. Does it need to show how many? most are posting idiotic things anyway. Here in Bognor the wind is strangely dropping at the same rate as the pressure is dropping. Still 4 hours before we are due to get anything of interest anyway. Off to sleep while it is quiet and hope it stays quiet until a sensible hour of the morning. 10:00am would do!
  3. Ah, I like Climping beach, nice and wild on a stormy night. Hubby used to fish there and was a good place for sea bass. Mmmm, mouth watering now, bass with ginger and spring onion. Yummy.
  4. VictorMeldrew. good news for you!!!! Posted on the severe weather thread just now. Winding up now!!! BBC Lookeast late bulletin mentioned MetO considering increasing severe weather warning from amber to red for north Norfolk.
  5. Oh don't worry too much. My pet plastic chairs are safely tucked up in a nice warm bed in the greenhouse. Some of us have compassion for our garden furniture you know! .
  6. Suspect that Very, very mild. it happened before the '87 storm and I am NOT saying this is another such storm, just that the warm air before hand could be a warning of trouble ahead.
  7. Pressure drop starting to show up here too. http://www.chimet.co.uk/%28S%28axsrahev2q34p1bw2s0ajgb1%29%29/temp.aspx
  8. I lived in the central belt of Scotland 45 years ago. has it really increased so dramatically as to catch up with the South East? Oh dear, so sorry Jimmy, I misread your post! Blame it on tiredness and being a pensioner please. Also I would so much love to be back on the west coast of Scotland. one of the most scenic places in the world in my view. And now I am compounding my error by going off topic. Sorry folks!
  9. Don't worry Victor. Just watch out for tomorrow morning, I reckon you WILL get some fun then.
  10. I am amazed it is quiet in Wiltshire. Not sure what is happening but things are winding up fast here on the coast of West Sussex. Maybe because I am so close to the coast? less that half an hour ago was gusting up to 51knot, or almost 59 mph. Perhaps just a severe squall?
  11. Sounding very bad outside here too Kate. It seems there are a lot of NIMBY's on here tonight that can't believe in something if it isn't in their back yard. or to be charitable, i guess it is just severe disappointment this isn't going further north?
  12. Especially frightening that close to a solid rock groyne! I hope people remember this next time they see a lifeboat collection.
  13. Because he was 14 and thought it was exciting, as many people on here have been talking about!
  14. Not really funny when this is happening in Newhaven! Watch the video and have some respect for the emergency services!
  15. Wind really winding up here also. This is my local weather report from CHIMET. http://www.chimet.co.uk/%28S%281qsay4jzpqplhhm10pbmqi3d%29%29/wind.aspx Rapid rise in wind speed and gusts!
  16. We had an eye on the '87 storm and that wasn't a hurricane. Came back on as the wind is stopping me sleeping anyway.
  17. Funny it is all the ones who are not even due to experience this storm who keep wanting to downgrade it but the more knowledgeable METO still aren't downgrading. Anyway, I was woken at 5:00am this morning by gusts up to 50 knots so I am off to get some sleep early as I expect if it comes off as planned then it will wake me soon enough. Not talking about you of course Pixel.
  18. Hi Jezzer.Which beach? Selsey or Bracklesham? Here is a good link for you to monitor the wind gusts at Chichester harbour. http://www.chimet.co.uk/%28S%28ko3hsa2gzflyqmuhnsiqgb45%29%29/Default.aspx Click the more details tab and you will see the wind has dropped as the shipping forecast suggested before picking up from about now onward.
