Hi,
here in the peak district we have had lying snow since around the 22nd of dec and to be honest if i didn't need to go to work then it would be great it can snow as much as it likes.
But it really is getting to be pain now, dont get me wrong i love snow i think most people on NW do.
We are having road closures because of it and most people dont have any knowledge of how to drive in/on snow.
As for getting about i don't have a problem as i bring the firms Hagglund home with me ( do a google for a bv206 )
So yes snow is great i love it , if i didn't have to operate as i normally do then bring it on
regards
Aye I wouldn't mind one of those
Especially the way certain people drive about - that's the only thing that has annoyed me about this cold spell, the eejits

Now seems to be a strange sleety graupelly haily snow mix
Slauphsnail?

Now starting to turn from sleet increasingly to snow

freezing rain/sleet right on the very coast mate.
will be snow within 10miles of coast i think.
As the crow flies I'm about 10 miles from the coast. Will let you know how the precip turns out lol

Had a very light snow shower about 15 mins ago

Just been out for the past 21/2 hours with a few of the neighbours, breaking up & shovelling the 11/2" thick ice off the road outside. We live on a cul-de-sac which is on a slight incline with a river at the bottom, and to say it was slippery is a vast understatement!
Absolutely lethal, cars simply couldn't get anywhere. Did about 30 metres of road + driveways (except those who were indoors but couldn't be bothered to help lol). All done now but boy is my back aching!!!!!
Good way to keep warm though, helped out the elderly folk & nice community spirit (and free coffee)

Yup I been out in it minus the cat
Amazing snowfall - seen nothing like it
-
If I had a dog I'd take it for a walk.
I might just tie a bit of string to one of the cats - here kitty kitty.......

I know good innit. Thing is though its not happening, because its not South of Watford, if we keep quiet about it no one will know.
Aye that's so true!
Every time I post lately the snow is heavier - good grief lol
Edit : flakes are the size of dinner plates now.......ok not quite but bleedin big

Started snowing again here. Having already cleared the drive for the past 3 mornings will tomorrow be the 4th ? We are now coming up to our 7th day with some sort of snow on the ground which for Preston is almost unheard of.
Mate you really need to change your nickname lol
Actually, quite a few Northwest members need to!
What a week it's been so far, and still we are getting pelted
Coming down heavy here still - great stuff!
Who knows, with this change of weather-luck, next summer we might actually get lots of thunderstorms (hope against hope)
-
Getting heavier now, nice little top-up this is

Light snow just started here in Leyland
-
Drove into Preston this morning from Leyland just as that big hail shower started.
What a mess the roads were. Cars sliding all over the place. Stopped at some traffic lights and the fella on the inside lane thought it would be ok to wait till the last second to brake. Slip, slide BANG! right into the side barrier rail. Luckily was only going fairly slow so no injury.
Good job he didn't slide in he other direction or he would have hit me. The prawn got out of his car and he was only young so I guess not used to this sort of Winter, but still lacking common sense....
On way back to Leyland saw a couple more cars facing in odd directions.
-
Made it..
At least the roads had been gritted (mostly!)
Congrats to us N/Westerners who have had some more - commiserations to those left out. Your time will come, plenty of Winter left

Good God!
Got up and looked out to see another dumping of snow!
Cleared car and it's around 3 inches or so. Not seen anything like this up this way for a long long time (mind you I only been here 6 years)
Another interesting drive over to Manchester - wish me luck!

To be honest even if this was the beginning of the end, I don't feel like complaining too much. Best spell of cold and snow for donkeys years - magnificent.
Mind you, more snow & cold would still be welcome
