  1. Very pleasant out but a lot of high cloud around. I was looking forward to a sunny day...
  2. Sounds like 2007 and, to a lesser extent, 2002 & 2015. Switch flicked in time for May. Perhaps this year we may benefit from less northern blocking taking hold opening up the southerly train of lows?
  3. Temperature been holding up well. Was still 15.5C until half an hour ago but rain has arrived since with a subsequent cooling.
  4. Brushed 20C here just before cloud blocked the sun and it fell back to 18C.
  5. Sunny spells and shallow convective cloud here. A little less of the latter please. Warm in the sun though at 15.5C.
  6. Another bright day. Not completely sunny but bright nonetheless. Interesting fact. The warmest 3rd April I’ve ever recorded was 2008 with 19C. We know what happened a few days later...
  7. Only 1998 fit the bill of nice May. Both 1997 and 1999 were largely unsettled but also thundery which made them interesting. Weirdly, we have a lot of family videos from summer 1999 and those from June of various things are all sunny. It certainly wasn’t as bad as the previous two years.
  8. Most of last August's cool wet weather was of course predominantly between the 09th and 19th. Up until then it was warm and often sunny with a few showers around, and after that it was also warm or very warm. So it also wasn't as bad as many think. It was actually on a par with August 2018 here, which although drier, went gradually more downhill as the month wore on.
  9. Me like! Perhaps an improvement on the cool/cold conditions of the next few days coming. Or maybe wishful thinking. FI is moving backwards and forwards a lot lately. The GFS is quite keen on a return of the type of conditions we had in the first 20 days of this month. Hopefully not a full on Atlantic onslaught, but certainly the potential is there, for even some pretty warm air to be wafted up from the south and southwest.
  10. Nasty wind out there, and now cloudy after a largely sunny morning. Nice to see the cloud is only over the UK and not the North Sea lol.
  11. Thought we might get a frost last night but the breeze hampered that. Finished off at 0.7C though.
  12. Another glorious day. Topped 15C for the first time this year. Cold spell at the end of the week? No thanks - I’m not a nutter!
  13. Imagine if it were actually winter! The temperatures at ground level look similar to a polar northwesterly in January. Just shows what lengths we have to go to to get cold this late in March.
  14. Beautiful day again, even nicer that the wind has dropped. Have worked online from the back patio today.
  15. We're well and truly into the time of the year of quickly changing conditions, especially when winds are from between 0 degrees and 180 degrees. It wouldn't surprise me if we saw flips between cold and warm if what is shown in the models for the next week or two become the norm. Look no further than April 2003 that switched between cold northeasterly, very warm southeasterly, and chilly easterly.
  16. Lovely day out there if you can stay out of the wind. Very dry air too with low dewpoints, not seen lower since mid Jan.
  17. GFS 18Z doing its best to ditch the easterly with more influence from southern low pressure and, as such, warmer uppers. Probably still on the cloudy side and perhaps wetter but at least not colder.
  18. This year is certainly exhibiting atypical conditions so can’t rule out anything. I’d be interested to see what a cool dry summer is like, although I’m really craving sunshine at the moment.
  19. Several more squally hail showers since earlier on. Real textbook March weather!
  20. Not a bad day in all and a high of 13.9C with sunny spells. Different story out there now with very heavy squally rain and gusty winds as the front moves through.
  21. I would be surprised if nearer the time we get something more like this happening: Chilly to warm within a few days. Seems to be quite difficult to get a lengthy easterly in March these days.
