  1. Of course ‘what we wish for has absolutely sod all impact on what the weather actually does’ but I reiterate,it’s madness to pray for el scorchio summers, especially in England…just be careful what you wish for is all I’m saying.
  2. To wish for protracted heat in the summer,in the U.K. in these ‘climate change’ times,is to root for the bad guy.I for one wallow in average and normal weather.
  3. And adding to that, many parts of Highland and Northern Scotland including the Outer Hebrides,Orkney and Shetland.Oh and there will be lying snow in many of aforementioned too.
  4. Up here in Lewis we’ve missed any easterly haar this time;last two days have been clear and sunny with the Clisham still holding onto drifts.
  5. Stornoway had a shower from hell today, heavy sleet and hail, driving winds. Temperature sat at +3c all afternoon. The beaches on way to Leverburgh don’t look right with snow drifts in the background!
  6. Light rain, wind 23 mph SE,+5c.The big thaw underway in these parts.
  7. Waited all day for the forecasted snow from the weak front here at Isle of Lewis. The wait was fruitless. No precipitation at all.Ah,to be employed in the forecasting arena;job for life and if you get it wrong,no problems...you still keep your job! The water courses flowing off the moors are solid though.
  8. Depends where one calls home my friend. Here on the Isle of Lewis, the ground is frozen, the small lochs are mostly all frozen, the rivers and streams are decorated with ice.The Clisham (Highest point of land on island at 699m) has had snow on it since before Christmas and this is an island bathed in the Gulf Stream. It certainly has been an odd winter!
  9. Some did well,Braemar with 26 inches of level snow but yep, proggings schmoggings in general.
  10. A proper beast scenario would present these temperatures as day maxima, not ‘feels like’ tasters.Let’s see if we do get deeper cold in then shifting it may take longer as next week end nears.
  11. Icy remnants in driving rain here at Port of Ness.High tide at 12:45pm so expecting a busy sea state from the ENE wind.+3c.The Clisham pass is just around the snow line at 200m.Council webcams captured this well.
  12. Looks like the Leadhills area at 400m are witnessing slight thawing...
  13. Today,+3c,wind easterly 22mph at Aline near the Lewis/Harris border.Snow been lying on the high ground (highest Clisham at 799m) for a few weeks now, consistent with being on the north side and the cold side of the jetstream.
  14. While the tension mounts over the GFS and folk wish they were staying north of the borders,I ask...what have I got to look forward to by way of snow here likes?
  15. +3c here after slight frost.East wind,10mph.Where is here?...Port of Ness...looking over to mainland Scotland,44 miles away.
  16. To live through an epic Winter is what many here are hoping for, including me.
  17. Reached a high of +6c today and that’s the highest it’s been for over 9 days.(Where? Port of Ness,Isle of Lewis.) Yes the north northeasterly drift of last 9 days has become progressively less cold.
