  1. Holy smokes!....some glorious weather around the next few days and yet some of you are still moaning!!...Jeez, get outside and enjoy the sun!..........For the record, after some low cloud early doors, it's now a beautiful day, lots of sunshine & warm...long may it continue!

  5. As the weather starts to show hints of more spring like weather, a shiny new thread to discuss the weather for your region... Old Thread here ----------->
  6. Drizzle this morning, you just can't beat it!
  7. Missed everything again! ,,,jeez am I unlucky or what this convective season.?...and the really ironic thing?.....My village gets hit by a decent thunderstorm around 3pm with plenty of CC's & a couple of CG's, big booming thunder, large hail...sounds good doesn't it?.....Just a damned shame that I was 50 miles away working at the time!
  8. bugger damn etc etc...was working down near Worcester today, just got home, to find out I missed everything!....Big thunderstorm in Penkridge this afternoon and I missed it all!
  9. A couple of new cells have fired in the past 20 minutes, nice looking updrafts, they must be very close to you, and certainly make for a very nice cloudscape to my north and east
  10. heavy showers & indeed a thunderstorm heading into the far north of our region currently
  11. Nice active storm near Chester drifting ESE...probably all a bit too far north to affect my area but it's nice to know that the ingredients are there
  12. It's the rain shadow effect of the Welsh Mountains, once the rain band passed through the midlands there is no other higher ground to the west to leech out the ppn
  13. Sometimes the medium of song sums up a news story.....all together now......"Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!".....lol
  14. lol......it's clouding over here as well now, still pleasant though
  15. The GFS CAPE FI eye-candy charts are a sight for sore eyes, they always downgrade, but after all the cruddy weather we've endured it gives that nice 'summer is around the corner and spanish plumes are here again' sort of feeling, even if reality says "it isn't, and they're not!"...lol
  16. I totally disagree with the highlighted comment....all the forecasters and pundits (especially on here) said that there was the potential for storms/severe storms, but that cloud cover may well be the deciding issue, and as forecasted, it's the cloudiness that has hampered convection today...There is still a window of opportunity, but it's a narrow window now
  17. Lol...judging by his innaugral forecast, he's definitley got a 2nd career as a weather presenter tucked away in his pocket....very impressive indeed!
  18. quite bright radar echoes from that shower between Barton & Immingham, but these showers are going up and dying very quickly...I'm wondering if there's too much surface wind, i.e the updrafts are getting quickly ripped to pieces near the surface and the cells collapse?
  19. The best cell I can see at the moment is just to the south of Grimsby nr Cleethorpes, with another cell forming on its outflow boundary to the SW of this....There may be something firing ne Hessle, Hull....and a train of cells firing to the SW of Lincoln The A46 between Market Rasen & Caistor might be a good spot Mark
  20. Nice line of cells firing on a line roughly Manchester to Leicester moving quickly north eastwards into some favourable conditions....for those in the Grimsby to Hull, you should be in for a treat the next 2-3 hours...further west in the west central Midlands heavy showers are also firing, again moving quickly north eastwards, so I might head out in the car fairly soon to see if anything's worth chasing....good luck folks
  21. first signs here in the past 30 mins of convection starting.....had a few drops from a Cu Congestus, this shower has moved NEwards at a pretty good clip and is now giving a moderate/heavy shower near Mansfield
  22. hmm....cloud breaks over the midlands and central england are filling in, there's seems to be quite a bit of high cloud (cirrus) spilling in from the SW, this will hamper convection initiating.......There is an area/finger of ppn pushing north eastwards through south Wales, this looks more dynamic than convective but if it fragments over the welsh mountains and breaks appear it could make things more interesting as the afternoon developes
  23. firefox v8 with various plug-ins.....I've just updated to v12 this morning, so I'll monitor it over the next few days
  24. Hi Paul...the more I think about it the more I'm sure it's when I've been accessing the 16 day forecast or 'storm/snow risk' forecast on NWx
