  1. " stop there atlantic this is my country" says the greenland high, as he casts blizzards down through Whitburn and all surrounding areas :)

Thats my ramp for the night over and done with, i cna sleep at ease now... with on eye open on the window....

Infact i can sense a top gear moment there... "Some say he wets himself when it snows outside... And that he keeps one eye open at night to keep an eye on the lampost... all we know is hes called the stig!!!!"

  2. Whilst i dont read to much into percipitation amount forecasts im not guna complain if that big 30 is over me on thursday haha, i regret to inform you all that this chart has made my night....

  3. well whilst temperatures are up slightly, to as someone mention before 2.8 showers are still falling as snow and no noticeable thaw from anything really, i always use the garden fence as a goo measure of thaw, and there is no drops coming off it, so ground temps must be holding off the 2m temps... big shower on a collision course with whitburn atm

  4. Has been quite uneventful here in T&W but this was forecast as the big meaty showers are progged to start this afternoon with the first one just making landfall as i type. Could be a deep low short rumble or two outta this...

Think your guna miss out on the heavy stuff, i think the real heavy stuff is guna he hitting sunderland in this shower, but none the less still moderate snow in this shower for a good 25-30 minutes...

And it has just made landfall here in Whitburn....

  5. Take it with a huge pinch of salt ( if there's any left lol). We're all going to get it tonight, by 7-oopm Tyne and Wear will be enjoying heavy snow showers !

I hope your right SNOW MACKEM, but i wouldnt hold out much hope, whilst yes im expecting more than the GFS is currently showing, i am not expecting 4-6 inches highlight by other members, if we get another inch i think well do well.

What is shearly amazing about this cold snap is the length, not the bitter cold nor the snow depths, it is sheerly the length. I dont think we have got much above 5 degrees now in 3 weeks.

One thing i would have traded this cold snap in for, 3 days of heavy snow in comparison to 8cm's and 3 weeks of it being very cold.

There is plenty of time yet though for me to have to dig my way out my front door, but im running out of time because i need it for monday to get my Further Pure 2 Maths exam called off!

    :)

  6. If you compare the two radar grabs, one from 7am and one from 1030am you can see the speed at which showers are increasing. This could organise itself in to some prolonged areas of snow later

This is what the above chart is forecasting... :)

Very good for the NE of the NE, not so good for midds ... Tyne and Wear may just get lucky later on, but the main snow risk is for places like boulmer...

snow accumlication forecast, shows nothing over the far north east lol.

its getting worse and worse for NE

What a load of tosh! It currently is showing no accumulation over the NE when there is a good 7/8 cm in my garden.... if it cant get it right at 00 hours i doubt itll be right in 24 or even 72!

  8. Looking forward too next week a little more now, i'm going to try and not watch any BBC forecast because there constant changes in the graphics would tear your hair out. At the end of the day, the radar has the final say and not those fancy graphics and nor does the GFS PPN charts.

Maybe not but they certinaly give a good idea as to where we can expect snow. Maybe not so accuratley for showers but definatley so for bands of longer spells of percipitation

  9. Well a nce dusting this morning ontop of the melted stuff yesterday... a little less than i expected but still better than nothing atall... AS in terms of snowfall for today i dont expect more copious amounts of snow, but snow showers should still rattle down the coast from time to time.... now tonights snowfall is downgraded slightly now only giving 1-2 hours of snow and its quite a slender line, and slightly delayed but good news is plenty of snow showers are left behind in its wake (now its the NMM UK MODEL HIGH RES that has picked this system up, the standard gfs has not however).... :D but should give those nearer to thecoast some moderate snowfall, perhaps heavy at times... Then tomorrow seems the quietest day all week.... Tuesday sees the snow come in then pretty much linger around as more troughs or longer spells of snow come in... wednesday could see snow pretty much the whole day for some if the gfs is to be believed... Then thursday through the weekend tends to see things die away somewhat in terms of percipitation atleast, but thats not to say convection out in the north sea wont carry on these showers...

Thats the way things are looking this morning, Tuesday into wednesday is look like the best oppurunity for most.... but all will be revealed in time... :D

  10. Well im giving up the battle to stay awake, i am now going to retire and hopefully we will have a little bit of a top up by tomorrow, even 2 cm is a bonus tonight, try and cover that thick ice that is out there! ill be setting my alarm for 8am! And then need to pop along to the local nationalcar to see a man about hiring a snow plough for tuesday onwards :whistling:

    Night all!

True- I heard one of the motorways near Edinburgh is shut! I expect the zone of showers that aren't fizzling out to slowly weaken but transfer south overnight though, so some of us will still get some. Snow shower headed for Cleadon at the moment, temp oscillating a bit (went up from 0.6 to 1.8, now down to 1.0)

  12. it looks like there are some showers heading our way, but they are no way the size or intensity of the ones further north. keep fingers crossed i suppose

There is some huge showers already forming for newcastle and sunderland, they are still over 100 miles out at sea so plenty more time for them to continue to grow before the big ones make landfall.

  13. Anyone notice those pretty potent snow showers heading south and west towards us behind this band of sleet and snow? Could be some pretty significant accumulations, maybe even isolated occurrences of thundersnow, during late evening and overnight.

Already ha thundersnow TWS, on New Years Eve there was a huge flash of lightening during the late evening period towards our SW, then again last night to our south! Quite spectacular really :D
