  1. Like all snow events, this one will be a case of looking at the radar and waiting to see where the PPN is heading.
  2. Just heard about this weekend. I was hoping to miss the snow but it's looking like Leeds may get some:(.
  3. I really hope this storm does not happen. XC Weather has 80+mph gusts in the early hours of Friday for Crossgates.
  4. It's turned very dark here. My Christmas lights run from a light sensor and they've just turned on. Other areas of Leeds are reporting heavy rain according to the comments on a photo from Look North: http://www.facebook....kNorthYorkshire EDIT: It's sleeting or snowing very wet snow. Sky TV just went off as well.
  5. It's picking up here now. I must be reasonably sheltered which is making the winds appear either calm or squally. I'm expecting the bike to blow over if the cover keeps inflating like it does... No electrical issues at all so far.
  6. Here in Leeds it's turned somewhat calm after the blustery morning. The rain seems to have slowed down too. I'm about to start work at 13.30 - 21.30 so i'll post about conditions around Yorkshire if there's anything severe (subject to 3G signal). Stay safe all those in the affected areas.
  7. Sounds nasty up in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Islands inbetween. Stay safe everyone up there. Here in East Leeds it's just raining and a little breezy as can be seen on my old webcam. I suspect it's going to get worse later this afternoon.
  8. Am I correct in thinking the worst will be on the coasts? Just wondering how bad things look inland in areas like Leeds for example.
  9. I've only just found out about this and from what i've read, it looks nasty.
  10. I live by my microwave. It even has a grill which is handy for making Toast and grilling things like Burgers and Bacon. I can't cook so I usually live on £1 Ready Meals from Iceland.
  11. I think i'm too far West again. It's raining here and I can see lightening to my East but I cannot hear it.
  12. Well this is a nice surprise. Rubles heard in my area of Leeds just now.
  13. Heating should never be on overnight. It isn't good for you at all. Our timer is set to turn off at 10pm and on again at 6am. As for the heating, it comes on if it's cold enough.
  14. I'll take cold and dry as long as there's no dramas this year.... Last year my van decided to self destruct it's starter which resulted in me being stuck till 1.30am in Sheffield, not getting home till 3am after it was tow started and me driving through a snow locked Sheffield (which I honestly loved) and not getting stuck at all mind you. I had my old employers asking me to work the following day (10h driving job and I would've been in Hull), despite not sleeping at all. Luckily Leeds was hit by the snow and I was stranded in the dealers all day, before walking home to find the hire car had been sitting there all day...... I since have a new job.......
  15. Just want to mention that a bookmakers has 6-1 on it snowing on 25/12/11 and 12-1 on it not snowing on 25/12/11. I think their head office may read the Daily Mail
  16. Looking at Rain Today, there's something building to the West of Leeds. Looks to be another storm in the making.
  17. Just seen lightning in the distance here in Crossgates and I can hear faint rumbles. Been outside and it's too far east. The flashes are just illuminating the clouds in the distance.
  18. My Strike Alert is beeping 3 times. Nothing up here in Leeds but I think the storm in Doncaster may be too far east.
  19. I've got one of those infra red point and shoot thermometers. It says 30º in sheltered spots round the back. Yesterday I went to Lindley Wood Reservoir. The stream is the River Washburn which was dammed in 4 stages to make reservoirs which serve Leeds. This was taken on the 16th June and shows the scale as i'm stood under the bridge:
  20. I've been watching this unfold since the Icelandic Earthquake map lit up with red dots and green stars last Saturday. It's impressive! I fear what Katla's eventual eruption will be like!!! Someone on Big Think posted a link to 38 photos of the ash cloud. These photos are awesome: http://www.visir.is/album/20110523/FRETTIR/523009992
  21. Must admit that despite my deep loathing of heat, i'm looking forward to getting some dramatic pictures of Yorkshire Reservoirs and feeder reservoirs. For my 1000'th post, here's Lindley Wood Reservoir taken by a friend, check the comments as there's pictures on how quick it empties. http://www.flickr.com/photos/samhirst6359/4827399551/in/set-72157624962180657/ An article on it and how it works: http://www.britishdams.org/2004conf/synopses/claydon.pdf
  22. My Stike Alert just pepped up and lightning spotted on my cctv camera now. Not heard the rumble yet.
  23. The sun has finally come out here in Bradford. Temps should rise soon.
