  1. Given how complex the snow forecasting is gonna be, I bet the warnings come out this evening. I for one will be glued to Countryfile tonight....
  2. I'm looking forward to seeing how the event on Friday progresses. However, anything can happen from this kind of setup between now and Thursday. I'm hoping for something to form and stall over the region, or keeps feeding itself from the Humber.
  3. I'll try find the Leeds Snow Shield and send it somewhere else... Hoping for something special but i'm doubting the 1995 Jan depth will be surpassed for another Winter. Main thing is it gives me hope of this setup occuring in say late Dec or in Jan one upcoming Winter. It'll happpen eventually.
  4. Someone in Whitby just told me he doesn't think it'll snow. The air is too salty.. He's in for a shock... (or is he right in some sense?)
  5. It's remarkable, so late in the season and so many out there will get caught out, there's a generation that's never experienced a true easterly! It's given me hope for the future. Leeds Jan 1995 snow will be beaten eventually!
  6. Same. I remember 1995 well and it always springs to mind when someone says it won't lay, it's too wet....
  7. I work in car parking. Not looking to be stood outside fixing barriers or pay machines next week. However, the kid in me will be enjoying it.
  8. Some more photos from Feb 1991. Awesome snow event as an 11 year old. Really hope the kids today can experience the joy that brought. .
  9. I was in Leeds, was 7 at the time. I remember the snow back then. School was closed so my mum dragged me with her, visiting a friend near John Smeaton Sports Centre. Another memory which stands out was the noise and crashes of the snow sliding off the roof along with the guttering. Said guttering giving me a fright the next morning, hanging infront of the window!
  10. I'm looking forward to tonight's 18z and the charts from tomorrow on, before getting too excited. However, we usually do well from an easterly. In 1987 i had over a foot, 1991 over a foot, the freak jan 1995 thing and 10" in 2010. To say that i've been wanting to experience the sight and feeling of opening the curtains and seeing a thick blanket of snow again, is an understatement. Hoping I beat the foot mark for the first time since Jan 1995.
  11. Certainly is alot of excited folk in the model thread. Gotta admit, i'm hoping it comes off and scenes like these from Feb 1991 repeat!
  12. We just need it to pull in some snow. Wonder if anyone has jump leads powerful enough to jumpstart the old north sea snow machine.... it's not ran for such a long time!
  13. I refuse to get excited till we get a North Easterly or Easterly spell.
  14. Thought it was too good to be true here... xD! Looking forward to seeing photos from affected areas though.
  15. Looks impressive on this wind map: https://earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=-4.00,49.42,2130
  16. Lovely golden (more than how it looks in the photo) sunset here in Crossgates. Teasing grey clouds keep passing by too.
  17. Wasn't in Leeds on that day, which is typical but this appeared on the local facebook group for Crossgates. It also caused a local 2h power cut in the area too.
  18. I used to hate summer with a passion. 41C in my room during the 2003 hot spell was enough! It took a few years but this year is the 5th summer with A/C. Add on solar panels and all these heatwaves really help lower (and sometimes eliminate) the electric consumption!
  19. I'm a few miles west in Crossgates. It's spitting here....xD!
  20. I saw an unusual lightning bolt during a storm whilst heading back to the depot during summer 2005. It was like an explosion of lightening in the central reservation of a dual carriageway. Ball lightening or just a quick CG, i'll never know.
  21. ''UK weather: Britain to bask in Easter HEATWAVE as spring finally arrives'' http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/uk-weather-britain-bask-easter-7552526?ICID=FB_mirror_main Mind you, they even quote Netweather in the article....
