  1. First weekend that i've not had the aircon running! Dreading the cost but having a house at 22ºC and not a tiny bedroom at 39ºC makes it so worth it, even if it took 6 years to get a heatwave strong enough to properly use it.
  2. It's the humidity and general design of our homes which makes heatwaves unbearable. It was noticeable coming back from high 30's in California to a London Heathrow in high 20's the other year. I would happily spend a day in 40ºC low humidity heat than our humid yuck that is unescapable without air con. Can't really moan about it though as this heatwave and a decent Summer was long overdue, it's almost as rare as a proper Winter these days!
  3. Envious of the storm to my east. Looks like a right whopper!
  4. Mine has added about £45 to the bill this Summer, according to the smart meter.....
  5. Nooo don't want it any warmer. Spent enough already running the fleet of portable air conditioners at home...... Despite being more tolerant to heat, it finally got to me with coming home to a hot house after work so on it went. I should invest in a central system.
  6. I used to hate the hot weather and stuffy environments, till I became involved with freelance mascot/charity work. Inside a costume, temperatures rise above 40ºc, most don't have cooling but mine has fans inside the head to help draw out hot air caused by breathing and draw in fresh air through the mouth/eyes. Keeping the head cool really helps, even if the body is hot. I often forget i'm wearing a fleece jacket till someone comments how I am not melting in weather like this. It's possible to get used to heat, took me years to build up the tolerance.
  7. Sun has made a hazy appearance here in East Leeds. Took long enough...
  8. Still cloudy here, though it's slowly brightening up. I don't hold much hope of seeing any storms but looking forward to seeing where storms form later :)
  9. I'm in Birmingham at an event in the Metropole, the storm at 2.40am was awesome! Another attendee took this: https://twitter.com/SudoWolf/status/1000581292071768065
  10. I'm hoping for a lovely, sunny summer. The solar panels take a decent chunk off the A/C power consumption.
  11. Mine won't do the cash alternative. If they did i'd get a van or something similar which would hold tools and spares without weighing the back down, taking space making the car useless for personal use (unless I spend 2h emptying everything)
  12. No more snow please... as much as I like it, i'm off to an event in Bristol over easter. My company provided car's owners won't allow winter tyres to be fitted, they won't even change them till the tread is at 2mm. I'm not alone, I suspect alot of company car drivers have the same restrictions. I might get some snow socks though if next winter shows signs of repeat.
  13. I'm very impressed with what Crossgates woke up to! Especially given it's late March! Gives me renewed hope of such a setup happening earlier in the Winter season.
  14. Certainly happy with what fell here in Crossgates this evening. Impressive fall rates.
  15. I tried getting the leasing company to fit them on my work car but they wouldn't. They won't even authorise the fronts, 3mm tread depth. Their limit is 2mm. I miss the van I had in my last job. That ploughed through snow, this Peugeot gets stuck due to tyres and boot being full, weighing the back end down. Naturally all work wanna know is why I couldn't get to Bradford this morning to meet some builders that got over the M62....
  16. There's About 1.5 inches of snow here, chaos on almost every road with loads of school closures. What would happen if we woke up to a 1987 morning where 2ft was common?
  17. It's snowing here and there's a dusting on the ground that looks like a hard frost....
  18. Heavy snow symbols are gone from the met app on my phone. Still looking forward to the showers though
  19. This cold spell has given renewed hope on seeing something like 2013. 2010, 1991 or even 1987 in this country again. There's so much that has to happen at the right time in the season - It's like winning the lottery and getting 4 numbers with the other 2 very close. It's like the weather is teasing us.
  20. Possible! I'm not writing anything snow wise off next week till it's passed. These setups often suprise....
  21. That one station that has the sensor inside...
  22. I'd say anything is possible, it usually happens with easterlies proper!
  23. Red would probably be issued for a Thames streamer... xD!
