  1. I had the lack of airflow issue too - victorian terraced houses seem to be really good at doing the opposite of what one wants in a given season..... I gave in a while back and brought a fleet of portable a/c units that work well but cost a bit when solar isn't topping it off. I want proper a/c but that costs about £1k/room which isn't worth the investment and the outside unit would attract attention.
  2. Heatwaves are as rare as decent snow events these days. Although heatwaves are not my idea of fun weather I must admit it is interesting seeing how they evolve and how hot it gets. Also, without heatwaves we won't get the juicy storms which are like the treat for enduring the heat!
  3. The heat yesterday gave me a chance to get a proper reading of my A/C's power consumption, if anyone has been eyeing up portables and was curious. In 14h it used 8.4KWH, it's a twin hose unit and I had it set to 22ºC.
  4. Cloud is building here. It'll probably evolve into storms as it travels NE. Though I am curious how the line of rain between Chester and Stoke-On-Trent evolves as it moves NE.
  5. I just got the payment for solar feed-in and the home A/C has been serviced. Bring it on, I shall be chilling watching the storm development.
  6. Updated weather warnings for storms from midday Sunday through to overnight Tuesday. Hopefully we should get a decent light show sometime
  7. It's always going to be a 'hot'' topic when it comes to personal preferences. I personally hate unventilated stuffy centrally heated homes in Winter and ice cold overly air conditioned places in summer. These distort a person's tolerance for weather conditions and make the percieved effect much worse.
  8. Has to be hazy sun with opressive humidity that fails to spark a thunderstorm off. Nothing worse than the pre storm opressive weather that doesn't deliver.
  9. A few fence panels have blown over here, they were rotten anyway.
  10. Recently found these from Feb 1991 in East Leeds. I remember that winter well.
  11. Typical.... I fly to Sweden on the 25th Feb. Now I don't want Snow to stop trains or the flight, it's guaranteed to happen
  12. There was, apparently. Looked like a picture perfect Christmas Card scene on Austhorpe Rd.
  13. H&S got hold of winters and made them fit the snowflake era Seriously though, i've always been one to not expect much in winter unless there's an easterly or north easterly airflow with alot of moisture.
  14. A work colleague is in Bishop Auckland and it's heavy rain with sleet intermixed.
  15. Yeah, don't expect it to happen. I'm expecting and checking nothing till the NW app starts beeping snow alerts. Makes the suprise more special if there's juicy PPN.
  16. With all the hype for next week, i've not seen a single chart for this weekend's weather at all. How bad is it going to be?
  17. The charts look interesting, must admit. I'm remaining cautious but optimistic though! I've skype meetings first thing on the 30th and 31st next week so I don't need to leave first thing.
  18. It's hard finding out information in the model threads, i'm just gonna hide in here I think! Oh, It's 24 years tonight since the Great Yorkshire Dump of 25th Jan 1995. An event still to be matched or beaten here! https://www.netweather.tv/forum/topic/82340-20-years-since-the-great-yorkshire-dump/
  19. Next Friday is the 24th anniversary of the event back in Jan 1995. I wonder if this rain/snow event on Tuesday will see history repeat itself?
  20. Same here, though I don't have pics of 1995
  21. Can I get excited yet? As horrid as it'll be now i'm not 11, I still remember the joy of opening the curtains on that day back in Feb 1991 to this:
  22. Are the winds set to increase overnight for our region?
  23. Ooh, will check here.. might be selective freezing rain, not freezing on everything yet.
  24. Had my lights flicker and UPS switch back and fourth to battery a few times in LS15... It's raining but doesn't appear to be freezing rain.
  25. Since the heating V A/C war of winter 2012/13 (A/C won ..) and me ignoring the thermostat settings, dad getting whopping bill in 2013/14 winter , we have a new boiler and individual thermostats on radiators now. 10.30pm-6.30am the thermostat is set to 17ºC, 6.30am-9am it's 21ºC, 9am-2pm it's 20ºC and 2pm-10.30pm it's back to 21ºC. I don't have the radiator on in my room but the house is comfortable for father, which is fine for me.
