  1. We've had a dusting of fine snow which has stuck to cars and bin tops mainly. Some naughty person has been out and written YES on most of them.
  2. That looks like Scotland cops it. Has everything changed in the last few hours? If so, perhaps more changes to come!
  3. ^^ with apologies if that sounds a bit sharp. Anyway, it's snowing a fair bit here but despite forecast low dewpoints, nothing is settling. I guess everything is just too warm. In December and January, the sun would be at or below the horizon now...
  4. So they're expected to be interested in the weather hundreds of miles away? The whole NW forum likely has x100 more people from SE England than from Scotland, they're always going to fill every corner with their parochial crap, just like Central Belters do in Scottish forums.
  5. Light snow falling out of a blue sky just now... F me it's cold out!
  6. 3C and mostly sunny with a gentle breeze this morning. The radar shows what I suspected, ie showers fizzling out further north. Fax charts suggest to my amateur eye that this is the pattern for today and tomorrow.
  7. Dry here this evening... I'm definitely not getting carried away with this one (as in, the start of the week), not heard the word 'disruptive', the fax charts look pretty uninspiring, and the various other charts for ppn I can see don't look very encouraging either. I'm usually wrong though....
  8. @Quinach - interesting you say plenty lambs around. I've not seen many at all on the Black Isle (although I suppose they may be already safely indoors) and I wondered whether a run of late winters / cold springs had encouraged farmers to delay them. Well delay the conceptions. Perhaps @Northernlights might know if this is happening.
  9. Chilly with persistent light rain but little wind today. That's at about 100m asl and a few km inland from home so likely to be snowy soon... Plenty of newly ploughed fields hereabouts...
  10. Best forecasting method for snow has always been and always will be to look out the window (a lampost is useful after dark), then if it looks like it might be snowing, go outside to confirm. Confirmation comes when you can actually feel it and see it.
  11. Probably from @Northernlights eastwards, away from the sea and a bit of height... usual story...
  12. The GFS-derived NW forecast is currently showing snowfall naileded-on for 8 days from Monday for here, as well as hard frosts. Seems to upgrading day by day in tiny increments. There'll be a big let down at some point no doubt but it's currently providing daily mood fixes....
  13. Snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow, snow..... snow. Happy now? It's actually quite an 'interesting' outlook for the north for next week. 'Interesting' not in the biblical sense but meteorological, because it's in the weather forecast. So in this context, 'interesting' may become really 'interesting', potentially extremely so. Phwoar. snow? did someone say snow?
  14. Looks like a right dog's dinner to me, which is often how it turns out!
  15. I had to go to Ullapool to get out from under the murk, and it looked like half of Inverness had the same idea - don't recall seeing the A835 ever being so busy on a winter's evening! Was it worth it? Hmmm.. possibly not.
  16. Gawd it's cold and grey again. Apart from the lights last night, there are some cracking photos out there of hoar frost and snow on the tops from yesterday.
  17. Blue sky, little wind and apparently rather cold. Feeling rather miserable here on day 4 of a cold which had better do one soon. Fksake.
