  1. Showers are pretty squally but just wet here. No doubt white on the tops. In other news, Hawkwind's 1972 live album Space Ritual has just been re-released on vinyl for the 1st time in a long time - my old copy is a late 70s repress.... Seems a bit less compressed this time which is nice. Sorry, I know there's unlikely to be many Hawkfans on here...God am I showing my age...
  2. Seems to have reduced somewhat since last night and flows aren't heading towards Grindavik so not as big a disaster as it first looked like. So far. Chilly night here and we had a pretty heavy shower an hour or so ago.
  3. You're a glass half-full chap! Have to say, my bet would be for us all to be in the mild with the next few runs and for it to stay that way.
  4. Currently being forecast for gusts up to and just over 50mph for this morning. We've got a gentle breeze...
  5. Bit wet out although looking at the usually reliable radar, we may only be getting a fraction of those further west. Typical December.
  6. The Big Day itself looks like a wash-out at the mo. Might be a boat for Santa rather than a sleigh.
  7. Touch of frost here early yesterday evening but it was gone by 10pm as the cloud came over. Patchy cloud this morning with light showers nearby.
  8. Oh god it's that time of year when everyone tries to wipe dried sneeze s n o t off their screens... Some of us do it repeatedly, unable to remember that we did it only this morning...
  9. It was an absolute disgrace. Anyway, been an ice day here again too, with fog coming and going. Down to -4C just now.
  10. Freezing cold and clammy - overcast and slightly foggy at -1C. Not ideal for anything or anyone really, apart from climate change deniers perhaps?
  11. If you're driving in deep snow, disable the traction control system - have a look in the car manual to see how and when to do this as different manufacturers implement their systems differently.
  12. It's not just lazy and contemptuous marketing, it's just not caring a jot about absolutely anything but SALES SALES SALES. Estate agents (or whatever you want to call them) have always had a bad name but there are some total shysters out there. Don't get me started. 2C, mostly cloudy and no wind here. Lots of reports of icy roads locally.
  13. I heard about catastrophic flooding around Guillestre. Pretty awful with huge amounts of infrastructure wiped out but at least no loss of life.
  14. It's been getting steadily dark over the last hour, went through the lurid orange stage and now there's a fair bit of rain coming in from the east. Not as if it's got desperately warm today either, currently 4.5C and falling. edit: 3C and sleety rain.
  15. 4C with some high cloud now. No further ppn after our very very brief flurry so no problems getting around. Not that I've heard of anyway.
  16. Made it - -1.5C just now. Phew, I've achieved something this weekend Ms HC was out for a walk today and came back with photos of heavily frosted heather, trees, etc. Privacy embargo.
  17. Down to -3.5C now. Looks like we might make the ice day again. And we seem to be under some relic blob of colder upper air too which dwindling and drifting away...
  18. Building a dusting? That beats my 'scattered small flakes subliming a few seconds after landing on frozen surfaces'...
