  1. I would agree that we've had a slightly colder and rather wetter than average December although probably nothing to upset the 10 year running mean too much. Here's to a better 2024. Have to say I struggle with listening to the news from Ukraine and Gaza, with the London gov't doing absolutely nothing to help in either case. Time to start praying.
  2. Interesting to see the usual fkup from the MetO issuing useless yellow warnings everywhere except in the places where impacts have already started. Could we have a Scottish Met Office please? Or really just a competent UK MO would be a start.
  3. I forgot - yesterday evening in Edinburgh at about 9, there was a loud extended crump of thunder, completely out of the blue. Freaky (slightly).
  4. We've been down to Edinburgh and back in 36 hours on almost completely black roads so all good. Glad to be able to time the journeys to suit the weather. I was able to spend time with my granddaughter which was lovely.... Sleet showers at home this evening that are turning to frozen slush on cold surfaces. Fun in the morning I guess.
  5. You know the answer to that!! So.... dare I ask.... how's tomorrow shaping up for getting around? <hides behind sofa>
  6. They're saying there's been an incident and flow is restricted - but this has only just popped up in the last few minutes... We've just decided to call our journey off.
  7. I've been watching the traffic cam at Drumochter this morning and notice something really odd. The time stamp changes quite frequently, but the image stays the same.
  8. We've decided to go for it in the morning.... I hope we don't regret this! Although it looks pretty windy, I'm banking on the ppn turning to rain by the time we get to upper Speyside.... We may be a bit late for our lunch appointment!
  9. Well apparently it's like a skating rink out there after yesterday's deluge then frost. Full sun mind and the solar panels are heating up water for a shower later.
  10. Heavy rain here this afternoon, the place is awash again. @lorenzo - very elderly mother duties today so no floorboard delights unfortunately. If Wednesday is no more than heavy rain, on this one occasion I shan't grumble. A snowy A9 with tailgating dickheads on summer tyres isn't the best way to enjoy the white stuff...
  11. I see my jaffa cakesy bit about weather warnings has vanished. Some thing never change on NW lol. If you tell me which bits offended you I can post the bowdlerised version. Cheers! Also: if Catchmydrift is out there anywhere anonymously, I hope all's well with you. We all miss you.
  12. Just started to look at the forecast for the 27th, Wednesday, as we're due to drive down to Edinburgh. Hmm. 4x4 with new winter tyres I think. Certainly a possibility of some snow for a fair stretch I'd say...
  13. Just seeing a little bit of nacreous here to the south-west but it's only a bit colourful so far...
  14. Every time I look out for nacreous clouds at dawn or dusk, it's at least cloudy, often raining! Stop now!! Heavy shower on again now, it's gone really dark. Gawd.
  15. Temp up to 9C now from 1C earlier. It rained all day, stopped a couple of hours ago. There's condensation on the outside of the porch windows which is very unusual - the opposite of usual! The change is so dramatic.
  16. A dismal smear of grey skitters this morning, currently being hosed away. 1C. Cat says, 'when are you lighting the stove today, now or very soon?' Me: 'On it, boss!'
  17. Cold rain here. 3C. Most unpleasant. Not going to the pub again tonight though, hahaha. An early night awaits
  18. We sorted the end of the crap weather day by going to the pub. Most satisfactory....
  19. Some very beefy showers piling through the last couple of hours. Some very heavy rain overnight too. I think I must have slept through the worst of the wind though...
  20. Breezy here too.... but no more. And if Sunday's non-event is anything to go by, I'm not expecting much more than a stiff Mandy in the morning. Well, a drop of rain possibly.
  21. Could be the old anglocentric world view that leads to such wonders as brexit* etc. *bitter, me?
