A cold feeling rather cloudy weekend with showery outbreaks of rain, sleet and hill snow but lengthy dry spells taking hold.

An unsettled few days although with a drier lull for parts of Britain. Atlantic low pressures rattle by with gusty winds and bands of rain but brightness in between.

Most places dry today, frosty tonight before rain returns on Tuesday heralding a return to more unsettled and windy rest of week and turning chillier too, with wintriness over northern hills later in the week.

More heavy rain moves into southern England and south Wales to end the weekend with flooding possible. Further north there'll be sunny spells and scattered showers. Some rain and showers will then linger, particularly in eastern regions on Monday.
