A bulge in the Jet Stream is allowing exceptionally mild air to be drawn up from Iberia. However, Scotland and Northern Ireland will see rain, heavy at times, along with strong winds, and that wet weather will move further south into Monday.

This weekend will be mild and cloudy for the UK, with some eastern sunshine. Stubborn high pressure to our south will cause a northwest-southeast weather split over the next week. Later in February, a pattern shift may allow northerly winds to bring colder temperatures.

The weekend is looking drier for most, calmer in the south, and mild by Sunday. A bit of Saharan dust too. The far north of Scotland will see wet and windy weather with gales.

A wild night from Storm Isha with gusts near to 100mph, flooding, fallen trees and widespread travel disruption in the north. The next won't be as bad, but warnings are out already.

The UK's weather shifts from cold, sunny to mild, wet with Storm Isha bringing potential damaging winds Sunday-Monday. Amber and yellow warnings widely across the country. Another storm is expected Tuesday. The weather is likely to start to stabilise from next weekend with high pressure building.

Cold again today, most places dry and sunny, but snow showers will affect the far north of Scotland and windward coasts elsewhere. Wintry showers for northern Scotland on Friday, but most dry & cold. After a few more frosty nights with disruptive snow for the far north of Scotland we have a change for the weekend. It looks milder and very windy with heavy rain for western areas.

There will be more frost, ice and snow showers on Tuesday with a severe frost midweek. The cold northerly flow continues but an interruption will bring snow to other areas.

Very cold arctic air will sweep south across all parts over the next 24 hours and will linger all week. Snow showers will affect N Scotland, N. Ireland, and windward coasts through until Friday, but will also be a more organised area of snow for northern parts Tuesday, perhaps bringing some disruption.

Starting Sunday, the UK's weather is taking a colder turn, with Arctic air bringing snow showers, particularly but not solely in northern areas. Temperatures will drop everywhere, with overnight frosts likely in many regions.

Much colder Arctic air is on its way by the end of the weekend. Before that, there will be a good deal of fair weather. However next week sees more widespread frost, cold by day and snow for some.

The high pressure nearby will keep the UK mostly dry over the next few days before making way for a cold Arctic northerly plunge on Sunday. The cold airmass lingering across all parts through much of next week with a risk of snow in places and widespread overnight frosts.

The UK Met Office issues different types of severe weather warnings including Snow and Ice. For January 2024, there has been an Amber Cold Health Alert which is a different type of warning.

A cold start to the working week with frost, ice, fog and a few wintry flurries. There will be a scattering of sleet and snow showers heading west today and tonight. Dry and chilly for most.

A rather cold start to the new week, with raw easterly wind in the south blowing in some snow showers on Monday, bringing a slight covering perhaps in the southeast. The rest of the week will be mostly dry, less cold later in the week.

The recent wet weather is finally giving way to drier conditions with high pressure arriving on the scene. It'll bring colder air plenty of sunshine (to start at least), with frost and fog by night. There will be a few wintry showers at times. Severe cold or very wintry conditions aren't expected during the coming days.

The weekend is looking drier but colder. Some good news for the flood hit areas although the larger river systems are still responding to recent rains. Next up frost, ice and freezing fog.
