"Snow starved SE" getting hammered again too?
Tell me about it, I was born in Ipswich in East Anglia (lived here for 5 years now) and they are getting hammered yet again!
-
The wind is really starting to pick up here, strong gusts with the snow!
-
Snow getting a bit heavier here in Swinton, Salford! Yet again, my hometown of Ipswich in East Anglia looks like it will get a real dumping for a second time. I need to time my trips home better!

Rain tends to hit us directly with no problems at all.
Oh aye. Unlike the snow! Hmpppfff
-
So now that the temps have nudged up just enough to mean ppn will be more sleety than snow, the ppn heading north later will likely fall as sleety rain, not disintegrate in the slightest and hit the NW directly without dieing out before it does.

XC weather actually reporting freezing rain at Manchester airport. This could be a disaster!!!
Google weather is reporting freezing rain in Salford but it is just very fine snow where I live in Swinton, Salford

Not a chance this far north. Uppers are still very low
Exactly. I know what freezing rain is, but uppers across NW are too low right now. Must be snizzle or snow pellets which appear rain-like

Raining !!! Boo
Raining where? Nearly all of UK is sub freezing, no idea how rain is possible anywhere near NW?

It really is unbeleivably windy and cold here but sadly very little snow. Looking at the radar images it looks to me like Emma is heading North more quickly than predicted (and she is further East) I have no idea what impact this will have on how far North she gets though.
C'mon Emma, just pretend its Summer I know you'd make it then!
If it was torrential rain, it would hit us!!!

OMG!! By looking at the radar it seems theres persistent snow coming over!!
They should really give us a amber warning now!! I think its gettting worse!! (better for me wink wink)
It has been there since 4.30am and it is moving our way, but dieing out as it does (currently light snow in Manchester since 5am,), wish the ppn would retain some of its oomph as it is a persistent band of snow moving quite slowly.

Imagine if you are a snow lover and you are in that gap between the two areas in Norfolk
To be fair, most of Norfolk saw 20cm already so the people in the gap are probably still happy

Snowing away in Swinton, Salford and everything covered.

Something weird is happening with the rain today radar. It was showing loads of showers going to hit Manchester about now and then suddenly they all totally disappeared
I dont know if it was faulty when it was showing the showers and now its correct or it was correct and its just developed a fault
Still there mate, just hope they make it!

Those 5 years have not been good for sure and you also missed out on the epic 2009/10 winter.
You will have to take a trip to New Zeeland for your snow fix.
Nope, maybe it is all my fault (sorry everyone! haha) Yes, East Anglia did see snow in 2009/10 but nowt on what was seen up here. Very frustrating! Oh I will be, have plenty of friends in NZ!

Manchester has been lucky and seen some snow (a couple of inches outside of city centre) and I appreciate it, but I was looking forward to some big totals later in week and looks like PPN will once again hit Midlands/Wales, and avoid NW (despite originally being forecast to hit us!). A lesson learnt for me this winter! Anyhow, I emigrate back to Australia in a few months and would have been amazing for us to see a massive dumping of snow. Meanwhile my hometown in the SOUTH (Ipswich) has seen around 20cm of snow with more to come, and those in Midlands and Wales will see their third or fourth big dumping of snow this winter. No doubt when I fly out to Aus after 5 years in the NW, you will see some amazing winter weather again!

Manchester sitting at -7oC when I left at 6am. Impressive for the city centre.

Manchester has about 4 or so inches this morning, 6 in some parts. Not bad for the city, and certainly more than the kast easterley!
